With every new I-phone software update comes the potential for problems and the iOS 7.1 released on Monday is no exception.

Customer's say it's killing their phone batteries among other pesky glitches.

The iOS7.1 is the first major update to Apple's newest operating systems for iPhones and iPads and the apple community is lamenting poor battery charges, disappearing contacts, bad Bluetooth connections, keyboards oriented the wrong way, and the list goes on, reports the Huffington Post.

No matter how advanced and slick iPhones and other gadgets get, their battery life stays reliably terrible. Now it seems major phone makers are finally doing something about that -- though they're still way behind the curve.

Apple engineers are studying new ways to power devices, according to The New York Times, including using miniature solar panels and the swinging motion of a gadget owner's walk to charge batteries

The new iOS 7.1 is draining the battery of even the newest version of Apple iPhone and iPad products

According to zdnet.com, the iOS 7.1 is already on 21 per cent of all iPhones and iPads making it one of the fastest changeovers to a new operating system in recent history.

Despite rigorous internal testing and five beta versions offered to Apple developers, the battery seems to drop much faster than it did on the iOS7.

A twitter page dedicated to problems with the iOS7.1 has a collection of comments on the faults with the new update.

'iPhone has been unplugged 30 mins and already down to 92% battery' tweeted @Robbie Kimpton.

'I think I'd have to get that juice pack that gives me double battery life,' tweeted Timothy Tung Nguyen.

'Not knowing who you're texting,' tweeted @DanHallas

Users also took to Apple's discussion forum to voice their issues with the supposedly newer and better program.

I've had my phone for 3 months, never have dropped it once or anything of the sort, if that matters. My battery drains to 50% within an hour or so after intense use on the lowest level of brightness, and I seem to lose about 5-7 percents when on standby for 5 hours or so,' said rainxwater.

'My iphone 5s battery also drains fast after ios 7.1 update. Before the update I get 24hrs moderate to heavy use. But now I only get 12 hours'.

My iPhone 5S has been draining like crazy since the iOS 7.1 Update. This morning I woke up at 8:30, my phone was at 100%. It's now 10:40 and my phone is at 85%,' said Mattyboy.

Customers now wait to see if Apple  will take charge over the system's battery problems.

Enjoy your 2007 technology Apple zombies. WindowsPhone 8 destroys iOS in every way other than slick marketing. While we are enjoying a seamless experience I will relish all the Apple snobs floundering in difficulty

Microsoft hasn't had anything to brag about since XP and the Office Suite. Other than that, it's crap.

There is no doubt all phone makers send out OS systems that make the user think the phone is failing. The best way to do this is battery life. Especially since one cannot change out the battery themselves. There is no doubt that this OS from Apple is doing this on 100% of the phones. I miss Steve Jobs.

Apple has lost the QC perfection it had when Jobs was alive. This would NEVER have passed.

I am so done with these silicon valley nitwits..who seem to take the biggest buffoon, one who has obviously NEVER used the product...and putting him in charge of the "update". Doesn't matter if it's Apple 7.1, Google (the new Maps suck), or Microsoft (Office XX forever...upgraded by imbeciles who have obviously never used Excel). I update things when I need something new....disconnect all the auto update software..90% of the time it's the right decision. No better than the US Post Office.

You are an amazing idiot. All OS systems are designed to make the user think their phone is screwed up. Including whatever you are getting sucked into. Loser.

I hated it so much I dumped my phone and got a different kind. It would run down the battery, even with out use, before I could get home from work and charge it again. I also hated some of the new icon layouts. I quite using many that came with the phone and downloaded ones that didn't kill my eyes or were easier to use. IPHONE has jumped the shark and the shark bit it on the butt while it was going over. Bad bad mistake.

Ever since 7.0 if I press the phone to my ear while talking it either hangs up or tries to switch to Facetime. This is a know problem for some Iphone 4 and 5 users and Apple tries to pretend it doesn't exists. And it's not fixed in 7.1 I may look strongly at Samsung when our contract is up in the fall.
