Nicole Trunfio refused to let the rain ruin her birthday.

The Aussie model, who turned 28 on Sunday, headed down to Bondi to enjoy a birthday swim, but her plans were interrupted by a thunderstorm.

The brunette beauty was forced to shelter inside hip Bondi café, Porch, while the storm raged.

However she was heard insisting that despite the weather she was determined to make it into the water. When the lightning stopped she went for a birthday swim as the rain continued to drizzle.

Nicole, who is currently starring alongside Naomi Campbell and Cheyenne Tozzi as a judge on The Face, posed for a photo post-swim in a grey and black triangle bikini flanked by two lifeguards.

She captioned the photo on Facebook: ‘Best birthday ever. Thank god I didn't need these dudes today.’

The model had to spend her birthday apart from boyfriend, singer Gary Clark Jr, but he sent her some birthday love on Twitter, posting a picture of the model standing in a ray of sunshine, with the caption: ‘Happy birthday to my beautiful Queen! SHE is the light.’

The celebrations kept on rolling for the 28-year-old, as she spent the night celebrating with friends.

She posted a collection of polaroid-style snaps of herself enjoying a night out with loved ones, including model Jessica Gomes, Benjamin and Joel Madden, modelling agent Danielle Ragenard and photographer Terence Connors.

Nicole, who is currently studying acting at the prestigious Sydney drama school NIDA, has just finished filming Paper Planes. The film also stars Sam Worthington as Nicole’s on-screen husband, and she has said that the actor was very ‘nurturing’ during the project.

In 2009 she appeared in the Australian movie Two Fists, One Heart alongside Jessica Marais and Tim Minchin.
