A groom-to-be gets the shock of his life in tonight's episode of TLC's Hoarding: Buried Alive when he walks in to his future mother-in-law's home and realizes she's a compulsive hoarder.
Robert from Las Vegas is lost for words as he walks into the home where his fiancee, Alicia, grew up. Items are piled floor-to-ceiling and a relative's cremation ashes are even found in one corner.
'I can't breathe. Wow. There is lack of air in here there's too much stuff. It's a fire hazard,' he exclaims in a preview clip for the show.

Although Robert has been dating Alicia for nine years he had never been invited to the family home.
Alicia said that she was embarrassed about her mother, Laura's problem and was worried about what others would think.
'He doesn't know what he's in for,' she sobs before her beau sees her mother's extensive stash of belongings.
'It's kind of like worse than a haunted house. I'm afraid for him to see it.'
Hoarder: After Laura's husband passed away in 2001 she refused to part with possessions and gradually her collecting habit spiraled out of control
Health hazard: Her home is now stacked floor-to-ceiling with items and the floor is no longer visible
Obstacle course: A relative's cremation ashes are even found in one corner
As expected, Robert - a hedge fund manager in television - is stunned by what he sees.
'When I first walked into Laura's house the first thing that struck me was that there was absolutely no path to get through.
'Then the second impression was why, why save this stuff, it's horrific!'
Laura moved into the three-bedroom 28-square-foot home in 1975.
After her husband passed away in 2001 she refused to part with possessions and gradually her collecting habit spiraled out of control.
Her home is now stuffed full of things and the floor is no longer visible.
''How can I witness my mother living like this? I don't know what to do. It's a health hazard,' Alicia says
Source of support: Robert and Alicia go about helping Laura conquer her hoarding problem along with a psychologist
However, the widow refuses to acknowledge that there is anything wrong.
'I like to look at myself as a collector. I never thought of it as hoarding,' she states,
Among her favorite items is a collection of vintage gowns from the 1980s.
'They're just so beautiful that you've got to keep them,' she says admiring the sequined fabrics.

But it will be tough to get Laura to change her ways as she's apparently had hoarding tendencies 'her whole life.'

I have to feel very sorry for those that hoard this way, they could hold onto some of the past, and get rid of so much, clinging to things, is generally very bad news. It does not change who you are, token amounts of stuff, are enough for most of us.
