Katherine Heigl's career might be on the down slide, but her popularity among dog lovers just got bigger.

The 35-year-old actress joined forces with former Bachelorette Ali Fedotowsky to bring two needy pooches home to America recently.

Ali, 29, was in Sochi covering the Winter Olympics for E! News and took in the canine orphans - named Sochi and Adler.

The budding journalist along with Katherine travelled home to the US in hopes of finding new homes for the dogs.

'Thank you @KatieHeigl for helping find Adler the pup a loving home!' Ali tweeted along with a picture of her and Katherine holding the female pup.

Their journey, however, was complicated when the dogs were found to be suffering from life-threatening diseases during quarantine.

Katherine shared Sochi's predicament on her Twitter page, along with pictures of the black-and-tan pup wearing a collar and slumped tiredly in his shelter.

The dog was diagnosed with canine parvovirus and distemper.

'Sadly @marcusmulick's rescued pup Sochi is in dire straits. He has parvo. We are doing everything we can to save him,' Katherine tweeted on February 24.

She followed up by writing: 'Thrilled to receive some really positive news about rescue pup Sochi's health today. Hang in there little guy!'

Then Sochi suffered a setback as Katherine described: 'Devastated to discover that rescue pup Sochi has now been diagnosed with distemper. We will not give up on him! He deserves a miracle.'

She added: 'Please send your prayers for Sochi.'

Vets working with the Jason Heigl Foundation - a charity founded by Katherine and her brother to help needy animals - managed to restore Sochi's health.

Adler fared better but still had some health problems to overcome.

The foundation's executive director Jennifer Brent told People: 'She had an upper respiratory infection, Bordetella, Mycoplasma, Coronavirus, Tritrichomonas and some unidentified fungus on her face.

'But she's going to the kennel on Saturday, her rabies quarantine ends on the 7th of April, and she will be ready for adoption. She's a perky, happy little girl.'

Ali and Heigl are working to find a new family for Adler, with Fedotowsky telling People she has already gotten 'hundreds of requests to adopt her.'

Isn't there enough dogs and pups in shelters here needing good homes. No need to import dogs with nasty diseases from abroad. Stupid idea IMHO.

Ali was a simple girl in the bachelor who said she had no sense of style and after the bachelorette she became fashion obsessed and did a 360 from who she was and is now fame seeking and annoying.

ADORABLE PUPPY. I love his eyebrows. I wish him a healthy and long, happy life. God bless all who adopted these poor dogs.
