It has to be a really important call to get in the way of a nail appointment.

Rod Stewart's ex-wfie, Rachel Hunter, spent some time talking on the phone outside InStyle Nails And Spa salon in the Westwood Village neighbourhood of Los Angeles on Monday.

The statuesque 5ft 11in former supermodel showed off her shapely legs in a pair of very short Daisy Dukes as she walked up and down outside the salon during an intense conversation.

The 44-year-old teamed the shorts with an Indian-style white cotton blouse with pretty lace detail around the neck. The outline of her black bra showed, teasingly, under the thin material.

She carried two handbags - a black leather one and a more colourful ethnic bag.

Rachel pushed her sunglasses on to the top of her head, pulling her thick, dark blonde tresses away from her face as she continued the call.

The Kiwi has been in LA since filming wrapped on New Zealand's Got Talent in December.

This meant she was able to party at the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue 50th anniversary bash in the city in January.

The celebrity covered the magazine in 1994 alongside Elle Macpherson and Kathy Ireland and again in 2006 on the Beach Party edition alongside some of the world's top supermodels.

Rachel was married to rocker Rod from 1990 to 1999 and their divorced was finalised in 2006. They have two children - Renee, 21, and Liam, 19.

Renee is following in her mother's footsteps as a model, while Liam is a successful ice hockey player who has played for Great Britain's national side.

Rachel, who looks much younger than her years, recently offered some beauty tips.

Speaking to magazine Women's Weekly, she said: 'My advice to anyone over 40 is to only do it if it makes you feel good.

She added: 'And don't go out in midday sun - the lighting is terrible! Stay under the umbrella between 11am and 2pm.

'And hey, if I was 20lb overweight, do you think I would be jumping into a bikini on a photoshoot? Hell, no!'

She also emphasized that a healthy diet can ultimately make the difference. 'The science is pretty basic - what you eat is what you'll look like. If you eat pancakes and waffles, you'll have a pancake and waffle body.'
