Cara Santana apparently has a soft spot in her heart for man's best friend. 

On Sunday, the 28-year-old actress shared an Instagram image of herself cuddling a small dog, her face lit with a big warm smile.

The fiancé of actor Jesse Metcalfe is referring to an animal rescue project and their dog of the week, who is in need of a home after her family could no longer care for her.

The forlorn creature was among numerous other dogs housed at the D Pet Hotel, which offers accommodations for dogs. 

In the snap, Cara sports an oversized white T-shirt, while her long brown hair cascades down her back.

'Babysitting at the Beach!' Cara captioned one image of her and Jesse contentedly relaxing on the sand while her fiancé gently holds onto a baby.

Jesse has previously said of his romance with Cara: 'I wouldn't say it was love at first sight. It was more of a slow burn, which I think is a better start for a relationship.

'I think if it comes on fast and furious, it generally fizzles out just as fast. We were slow and steady.'

Cara added: 'We took the time to get to know each other. We’ve known each other for like 10 years.'

The Born In The USA star can next be seen in the action horror mystery film, Reunion.
