James Packer's model ex Erica sets up new life in LA in $100k-a-month palatial mansion

After splitting with one of Australia's richest men, Erica Packer is rebuilding her life in LA in spectacular style.

After marrying James Packer in an extravagant three-day wedding celebration on the French Riviera in 2007, the pair announced their split last year after six years together.

Betting on a new life in the US, the 36-year old originally from Gunnedah, is renting a $100,000 a month palatial Beverly Hills mansion featuring seven bathrooms, multiple suites and a separate guest house.

Valued at $30 million, the home has been rented by Adel and is located in a high-security gated community, Woman's Day reported.

Celebrities including Melanie Griffith, the Osbourne family, Paul McCartney and Don Johnson also called the estate home.

The estate features a swimming pool, tennis court and bowling alley, built in 1941 for Bert Lahr, who played the lion in the Wizard of Oz.

Palatial living: Erica is living in the home with her three young children to James Packer

A reason for the split has not been publicly confirmed, but two months before the shock split was announced, Erica secured the luxurious home.

As part of her settlement it's understood that Erica got a package worth more than $100 million and included the couple's Vaucluse home, which they designed together.

Despite this, the home, which features a 13-car garage wellness centre, sauna, staff quarters, guest accommodation is empty, with no sign of James or Erica for months.

Erica is based in LA with couple's three children, while James, who recently admitted his 'personal life is a disaster', has been traveling around the world.

Since the break-up, James has been romantically linked to model Miranda Kerr. James and Erica were long-term friends with Kerr and her ex husband Bloom. Neither has commented about the rumours.

Last week builders were called to renovate James' four-level Bondi home, which he previously shared with Eric and first his ex-wife, swimwear designer Jodhi Meares.

Work on the pad includes the installation of custom-made pieces, new walls and fittings, carpets, bathrooms and awnings, with tradesmens spotted working at the home about three weeks.

A crane was used last week to remove giant panes of glass from the top balcony before a massive piece of furniture was hauled up.

But this is not the first time James has redesigned his home following a marriage break-up.

After splitting from Jodhi in 2002, James swapped the home's Balinese inspired interior fpr a clean and modern look.

Work also included removing marble bathroom walls, with a neighbour confirming that at the time people were taking the remnants of the stone walls from a skip bin.

In 1998 when James ended his engagement to actress Kate Fischer, he gave her the $3 million Bondi apartment they shared as part of a rumored $10 million settlement.

This home is actually quite nice. I know the street Heather Road that this home is on & you can't see any of the properties because they are very private with big gates. Not sure why Ms. Money Bags needs to live in such a massively large estate & has no children though...
