Halle Berry will NOT have her scenes cut down in X-Men: Days Of Future Past insists director after claims Storm was turned into a cameo

Halle Berry was never meant to have a big role in X-Men: Days Of Future Past.

On Monday it was reported by the New York Daily News that the Oscar winner's character Storm would be cut down to just one scene to make room for younger stars like Jennifer Lawrence and Nicholas Hoult.

Soon after director Bryan Singer laid those rumors to rest when he tweeted that the 47-year-old's role in the film - which is set to be released on May 23 - will be more than a cameo.

'No,' was also the helmer would type when asked by DigitalSpy, 'Are the rumours about Storm being cut down to just 1 scene true?'

The New York Daily News article pointed out that Berry didn't have any knowledge that her screen time was being chopped down and she wouldn't find out until she actually saw the film in theaters.

That report has since been taken down from the website.

Halle filmed her scenes as mutant hero Storm last year when she was pregnant with her son Maceo.

The beauty wasn't able to do many fight scene due to her condition and most of her scenes were shot from the waist up.

Halle has previously remarked that shooting while pregnant with Olivier Martinez's child did present some challenges.

'My ever-growing belly was posing a constant challenge,' she said.

'What I could do was getting more limited so the role that I play is so different from what it could have been, due to my surprise pregnancy.'

In December Singer admitted to Entertainment Weekly he had cut Anna Paquin from the summer film because there was so much going already.

Her part, which took only a few days to film, may pop up later.

'Through the editing process, the sequence became extraneous,' Bryan said.

'It’s a really good sequence and it will probably end up on the DVD so people can see it. But like many things in the editing process, it was an embarrassment of riches and it was just one of the things that had to go.

'Unfortunately, it was the one and only sequence Anna Paquin was in, the Rogue character was in. Even though she’s in the materials and part of the process of making the film, she won’t appear in it.'

X-Men: Days Of Future Past has a massive cast as some of the vets have been mixed with newcomers.

In addition to Halle, X-Men vets Sir Ian McKellen, Sir Patrick Stewart, Hugh Jackman and Ellen Page are returning.

The newcomers are James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence and her real-life boyfriend Nicholas Hoult.

The synopsis read as follows: 'The X-Men send Wolverine to the past in a desperate effort to change history and prevent an event that results in doom for both humans and mutants.'

Halle is currently filming her new TV series Extant in LA. She plays an astronaut who has difficulty acclimating to family life after a long solo mission in space.

There have also been reports that her marriage to Martinez is on the rocks, but both have stepped out with their wedding bands on.

A source told E! that talk of a split couldn't be 'farther from the truth.'

What about famous character like Jean Grey and Cyclops being sidelined? This is what I hate about these films; Famous characters are sidelined according to acting talent. Mystique didn't even have a big role in the X-Men series but ever since Jlaw took up the role her character has been buffed up.

I think this 'Berry' is a tad over-ripe. Have they got anyone younger ?

Looking forward to X Men, but would be looking forward to it even more if Berry wasn't in it, I'm sure there must be other female characters in the comics that could have been used instead of Storm in this film.

To be honest wouldn't be a bad thing if she did. For those who are old enough to know she is nothing like the character in the comic books or cartoons.
