Not a good look! Melanie Griffith puffs away on a cigarette as she heads to luxury department store

By Daily Mail Reporter

Clearly old habits die hard.

Despite all the health warnings and spending hours each day working out, Melanie Griffith is not giving up her up her nicotine hit.

The 56-year-old star could not wait to spark up a cigarette in Beverly Hills, California, on Thursday.

The Working Girl star only had a few feet to walk between the valet and luxury department store Barneys New York, but before she had even handed over her keys, the star immediately lit up her cigarette.

Drawing back as fast as possible to get the most drags in before she started to shop, the actress showed off her skills developed after years of smoking, not even needing to use her hands.

Instead Melanie rested the lit cigarette in her mouth as she fumbled around her handbag.

Just a few hours before, the actress had been hard at work at the gym but that was all but forgotten as she headed into the store.

For her day of shopping, the wife of Antonio Banderas dressed down, wearing a pair of straight leg blue jeans - which highlighted her slender figure - with a navy ribbed turtleneck long sleeve jumper and kitten heels.

Unusually the star - whose blonde hair was left out and flowing in a unstyled natural wave - also wore a pair of leather fingerless gloves.

While hot in Los Angeles, Melanie is clearly feeling the cold as she has been traveling back and forth from Hawaii of late for her guest role on television show Hawaii 5-0.

The iconic actress plays the mother of Scott Caan's character Danno Williams on the tropical crime drama.

Going to the gym a lot hasn't done much for her body.

Antonio is the only reason she's still sane.

MG is always off the mark with her style. And she never looks relaxed. Good actress though!

She could afford to buy better fitting jeans.

She is an addict...if she needs to smoke and just can't give up that one thing up. Let her smoke.

I don't smoke, but even with my career I'm just not going to preach to those that do. They are adults & they know the risks. I see no reason to pick at people over it. What I will pick at her over are those silly gloves. We get old hands as we age. Everyone does. Stop hiding them
