Lineker and Co join forces with Gary Barlow, Pixie Lott and Girls Aloud's Kimberley for England World Cup song... while Becks takes a Del Boy fall!

By John Drayton

This could be the soundtrack to your summer. Gary Lineker, Michael Owen and Geoff Hurst have joined up with Take That star Gary Barlow for England's World Cup song.

A cover of Take That classic 'Greatest Day', the song features former England stars like Martin Keown, Glenn Hoddle and David Seaman.

A host of pop stars like Girls Aloud's Kimberley Walsh, Pixie Lott and Spice Girl Emma Bunton were also on hand to take over singing duties from the likes of Gary Mabbutt, Carlton Palmer and Gary Pallister - who proved a dab hand on guitar.

All profits raised from the song go towards Sport Relief. It follows in the footsteps of classic England songs like 1970's Back Home, 1990's World in Motion and 1996's Three Lions.

Elsewhere in Friday's Sport Relief extravaganza, British TV institution Only Fools and Horses returned, with special guest David Beckham.

Legendary duo Del Boy and Rodney Trotter tried to sell branded 'Golden Balls' pants, before England legend Beckham talked to the brothers in a cafe.

Back at the market, Beckham signed an autograph before falling over, echoing the iconic scene of Del Boy falling through the bar in classic 1989 episode Yuppie Love.

Lineker introduced it as a song that fans can sing on the terraces.... NO CHANCE!!! No effort involved in this at all, just re-using the original song. Take a listen to The Establishment's song instead!!! It's a reworded version of "You Get What You Give" by The New Radicals, but at least a bit more effort has been put into it than the official lot did.

Not a world cup song. Couldn't someone write an original? Where are New Order when you need them?

I thought Adrian Chiles would be lead singer.

Shame, as I was hoping for a 2014 remix of 'Diamond Lights'.

Utterly dreadful, boring choice of song. A bunch of celebs and ex footballers doing a cover of a Take That song, how imaginative. They should just rerelease Three Lions for every major tournament or make an official version of the song from Mike Bassett. Although saying that, the part where they sing 'hold on' repeatedly will ring very true from the first minute v Italy to the last minute v Costa Rica when we are clinging on for a 1-1 draw.

Oi Roy! Play Pixie Lott up front against Italy and we may be in with a chance of taking their eye of the ball.

It's great that this is for charity but don't kid yourselves this isn't a World Cup song.
