Spidey's sea legs! Andrew Garfield the action hero rides waves and teaches kids how to surf in Sydney
He’s known for saving the lives of citizens on the big screen as Spider-Man.
But it seems that Andrew Garfield is quite the action man in real life too.
The 30-year-old actor, who’s Down Under promoting The Amazing Spider-Man 2, took to the waves on Friday and delighted young fans by teaching them how to surf.
He was joined by pro-surfer Joel Parkinson at Bondi Beach as part of Hunter Connect's Surfer's For Autism program.

Great start to a day: Andrew Garfield started his Friday by teaching autistic children how to surf at Bondi Beach
Good guy Garfield: Andrew looked like ever the supportive teacher, guiding the children and cheering them on when they succeeded
Andrew, adorned in turquoise and black striped cossies and a rash body top, posed beside a Spider-Man themed surfboard before catching some waves.
And if it wasn't enough that Andrew took part in the program, Hunter Connect's Wayne Hampton told MailOnline that it was actually the A-lister's idea.
'It was Andrews idea to touch base,' he said, explaining that he 'was very specific in wanting to do something with a local charity that supported children with autism spectrum disorder in the surf.'

Happens to the best of us! Andrew alternated between teaching and doing, but at one point lost his balance and crashed
Crash! Andrew took quite the tumble out in the ocean
He alternated between helping out the youngsters and then showing them how its done - though the actor, who made his name in 2010's film The Social Network, lost his balance on a few occasions.
But Garfield looked like ever the supportive teacher, guiding the children and cheering them on when they succeeded.
Andrew ended his morning by posing with Joel and officials from Hunter Connect, starting his Friday in the best possible way.

Doing the rounds: Andrew's co-star Emma Stone was busy doing press rounds for The Amazing Spider-Man. Her interview with Nova's Fitzy & Wippa went live on Friday morning
Meanwhile, his Amazing Spider-Man co-star Emma Stone was interviewed by Nova's Fitzy & Wippa, who tried to trick her into giving them Ryan Gosling's phone number.
‘You obviously have to hold onto a huge secret, because you know who Peter Parker is,’ Fitzy began, ‘so we thought, “what’s Emma Stone like at keeping secrets?”’
The duo began by asking a few innocuous questions, like what Stone would do if she discovered KFC’s secret blend of herbs and spices or if NASA told her the moon-landing didn’t happen.
But then Fitz hit her with the question he really wanted answered, ‘what if you knew Ryan Gosling’s phone number…would you keep that a secret?’
‘Or what I have to do to get that off you?’
Pranksters: Fitz and Wip tried to trick Emma into giving up Ryan Gosling's phone number
Not impressed: Emma was far too smart for the boys, and refused to give the number of her Crazy Stupid Love co-star up, calling it 'priceless'
Emma, who acted across Gosling in 2011's Crazy Stupid Love, wasn't silly enough to fall for it, simply saying that his who number is 'priceless.'
Stone plays the leading lady in The Amazing Spider-Man and it's sequel, reprising her role as Gwen Stacy, Peter Parker's love interest.
Garcia, of course, plays New York's friendly neighbourhood Spider-Man - the first film was the biggest of either of their careers, grossing over $750million worldwide.
The first film, released in 2012, is also special for both actors, as they began dating in 2011 after getting close while working together on set.
The Amazing Spider-Man 2 hits Australian cinemas on April 13.
