Turn your selfies into nail art! Ingenious new app creates custom nail stickers out of Instagram images

By Annabel Fenwick Elliott

Celebrities including Rihanna, Katy Perry and Kesha have been fans of heavily customized nail art for some time - and now there's an app for you to make your own.

NailSnaps is the much-hyped app that lets you turn your favorite Instagram photos into easily applicable custom nail polish stickers.

If LA-based designers Angel Anderson and Sarah Heering's budding Kickstarter campaign reaches its target of of $47,000, the app will launch later this year.

The free Nailsnaps app will allow you to pick a photo from your phone or Instagram account, before positioning it exactly how you want it to appear on your nails. Once your design is submitted, you will receive a set of custom stickers in the mail soon after. The stickers can be applied in minutes and are promised to last around a week.

Designer and Instagram fanatic, Miss Anderson, had the idea a year ago, around the time she started wearing nail polish stickers.

'Most of the off-the-shelf designs didn't appeal to me,' she explains on the brand's Kickstarter page. 'Besides, I don't want the same looks as everyone else. Nail art is about creative expression.'

Angel's partner, digital strategist Sarah Heering, says that when she first heard the idea 'fireworks went off' and she knew she had to make the concept a reality.

The pair have established a high quality printing process and are ready to go with the app - they just need $47,000 in Kickstarter funding in order to hit the market.

And if the overwhelming social media response is anything to go by, they shouldn't have too much trouble: they have already raised $17,000.
