Love is in the Air: James Middleton and Donna jet off on a 'family holiday'

By Mail On Sunday Diary

It's not long since rumours abounded that the romance between James Middleton and Donna Air had fizzled out – but I can report their relationship is so strong, they are planning a first ‘family holiday’ with Donna’s daughter Freya.

I also gather that the Duchess of Cambridge’s brother James, who attended £30,000-a-year Marlborough College, has helped persuade Geordie actress and designer Donna to send ten-year-old Freya to boarding school.

‘Freya has some very fixed ideas about what she wants to become when she’s older, so we’ve got some big decisions to make over the next few weeks,’ Donna told me at a party for British fashion label High at its flagship store in London’s New Bond Street.

‘I’m busy planning holidays because I know I won’t have half as much time with Freya when she goes away to school. We are thinking of going to Jamaica or the Bahamas.’

Donna, who attended a comprehensive in Newcastle, had previously said she had no plans to send Freya away because she ‘didn’t understand the boarding school thing’.

The 34-year-old also intends to scale down  her work commitments to concentrate on her relationship  with the 26-year-old. ‘I set up  two companies recently but I’ve already decided to leave one. I’m busy focusing on my other project and being  a mum and girlfriend,’ she said.

If Prince Harry’s girlfriend Cressida Bonas has any hope of endearing herself to the Royal Family, she may want  to rethink her choice of favourite comedy performers.

The  24-year-old was at London’s O2 on Monday night to enjoy a performance by Jack Whitehall, who was criticised for making a series of crude jokes about the Queen and Prince Phillip during an appearance on Channel 4’s Big Fat Quiz of the Year.

‘Cressida was there with Jack’s sister Molly and looked like she was having a whale of a time,’ says my man in the stalls. ‘She was laughing along all night.’

Boris Johnson’s father Stanley has so much to say for himself, he’s planning a third volume of his autobiography – before he’s even finished the second.

The first book – Stanley, I Presume – was well received by critics and the 73-year-old says: ‘I’ve been working furiously on the new one which I’m calling Stanley, I Resume.

'I’ve already written more than 70,000 words, and we’re aiming to publish by the end of the summer, but my problem is I travel so much I get caught up with other things. There will also be a third volume, Stanley, I Conclude.’

James is wealthy, and I suppose some would consider him handsome and a good catch, but there is something a little off about him that I don't like. Speaking of a Middleton, we haven't seen hide nor hair of his boring single sister lately, and that is nice.
