'I chose to make things happen!' Beyonce shares her life story as she dances her way to fame in new Toyota commercial

By Rachel Levy

She's dubbed Queen Bey for good reason.

Beyonce Knowles rose to fame due to her own hard work - and her story has inspired Toyota's latest automobile commercial.

With the assistance of young actresses, the video showcases the stages of the 32-year-old songstress' music career.

Starting way back in her mother's womb, a series of scenes show her development.

Portraying her childhood, a starlet is seen entertaining on a kitchen table, singing alongside a piano, and taking ballet classes.

Moving onto her teen years, another actress shows off her outdoor dancing skills before jotting down the lyrics to her hit single 'Survivor' while riding a bus.

Once the mother-of-one finally appears, she's happily recording in the studio with The Dream and then energetically performing on stage.

Beyonce slowly speaks throughout the video to the backdrop of her tune Waiting.

'I had a choice to stand still or move forward,' the wife of Jay Z proclaimed.

'To let things happen or to make things happen. Every day I wake up, I make a choice: not to let the world decide for me.

'I decide for me. I decide to get going.'

Toyota's commercial ends by showing their cars driving on the open road as the phrase 'GET GOING' flashes the screen.

This is an expensive advertising mistake for Toyota. No one is going to run out and buy a car because Beyonce says she likes it.

Toyota is desperate because the Honda CR-V, Subaru Forester are the best compact suvs. In the midsize category, the Fusion, Accord and the gorgeous Mazda 6 are by far better than the Camry. In the compact category, the Focus, Mazda 3 especially are way ahead in drivetrain, power, value with the redesigned Civic following. the Corolla is the most boring, dull and ugly compact. Toyota is fast becoming stale.Quite the opposite of its Lexus brand. Now see the "its what makes a Subaru a Subaru" ads. it's something people can relate to.

The concerted attempt to build herself into an icon is getting ridiculous. Can you imagine the negotiations for this deal?l It must have been quite clear without a celebration of how she was borne for greatness - no deal. Drive (pardon the pun) is great, an empowered woman who seems to sell, show or say anything for money, fame and adulation is not a person that anyone but an undiscerning teenager can find her a plausible role model.
