Dressed in full religious regalia Sister Cristina Scuccia, who hails from mafia hotspot Sicily, managed to get all four chairs to turn around during her blind audition.

She was joined by three other nuns on the run from the convent, and they were so delighted by her singing they jumped up and down with glee.

But the 25-year-old certainly did not need any help from above, as she hit the high notes with ease during her angelic performance.

Explaining her decision to come on the show, the Ursuline Sisters of the Holy Family member told the panel: 'I have a gift and I'm giving it to you.'

However she may have been warned by her Mother Superior afterwards, as she seemed to have fallen into the trap of being prideful when she said: 'I hope that Pope Francis will call me now.'

Sister Cristina may need freedom to Rome for some time, as the panel, which includes singers Raffaella Carra, Noemi, and Piero Pelu, were falling over themselves to sign her up for their teams.

Italian rapper J-Ax told her: 'If I had found you at Mass I would always be in church. You and me are like the devil and holy water.'

And his esoteric pitch seemed to pay off, for she ultimately decided to be in his team.

However it seems she is still determined to stay on a holy path, as she insisted: 'I came here because I have a gift and I want to share that gift. I am here to evangelize.'

Sr. Cristina is now trending on Twitter, and the YouTube video of her performance now has two million views

She has also been praised by Cardinal Gianfranco Ravasi, president of the Pontifical Council for Culture.

He said: 'Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others (1 Peter 4:10).'

You go, girl! The best thing I've seen in a very long time. I loved it! Good luck to her. And I loved the way the other sisters were bopping along with her. It was a joy.

I adored the happiness of the other three nuns with her. That made me laugh with them. One very thought provoking quotation, used by Cardinal Gianfranco Ravasi, President of the Pontifical Council for Culture, got to me though in the last sentence of the text - Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others (1.Peter 4.10). That takes courage and Sister Cristina has it.

Well, without any additional comments, all of you who red arrowed me, look at here again in six months, when the novelty wears off. In the music business, the streets are littered with broken dreams. On a humorous way, I wonder if the Pope ever phoned her.

She was fun to watch ! .. she is so joyful ! Nice to see a spark of happy in a crazy world. I dare say, I think God had a smile on his face while he tapped his toes to the music ; )

You guys and gal seriously expect this nun to become a star? There are millions of girls with better voice out there and most of those who made to the final of American Idol, The Voice or the X Factor they quickly fade away. Some (few) of course become mega stars but this nun? A 15 minute wander!

While what you have said was not said in a more respectful tone, I must agree with the reality of what you are saying. I thought she was nasal/throaty which is not good technique to keep someone singing long term. But I did think that she was a breath of fresh air, a novelty, and thoroughly enjoyable to watch. I just would not want to hear that technique on a record or on subsequent shows.

I think you might actually be very wrong. The fact that she IS a nun makes her choice to compete very rare and unique. Like most things that are unusual, that is going to draw attention and I dare say over 2 Million clicks in YouTube may well be an indicator of where this is going. It's not always only about voice. It is very often about the message and the personality carrying said message.

Is she cute or what! That was great! Good for her to be brave enough to audition.

Well, if this doesn't prove that you can impress an audience and display real talent without twerking, gyrating, cr0tch grabbing, or lolling your tongue out every 5 minutes, then nothing does. Absolutely wonderful, Sr. Cristina!
