By Bobbie Whiteman

Sarah Michelle Gellar has slammed US Vogue for featuring reality TV star Kim Kardashian and fiance Kanye West on the cover.

The 36-year-old actress blasted magazine's editor Anna Wintour's controversial decision and tweeted: 'Well......I guess I'm canceling my Vogue subscription. Who is with me???'

The Buffy The Vampire star joined a slew of other celebrities and fashion fans who have registered their discontent on Twitter at the choice of the Keeping Up With The Kardashians star for the front of the upscale publication's April issue.

Many question whether the celebrity couple are relevant to the readership.

Influential blogger Bryanboy wrote: ‘Twenty four years of loyalty to American Vogue and then this.’

Outspoken entertainment journalist Nikki Finke also took to her twitter to chime in on the cover, writing: 'I'm loving the big backlash aimed at Anna Wintour for putting Kim Kardashian on Vogue cover. Issue should come with barf bag.'

But that didn't seem to bother Anna, who must have counted on a reaction.

Proving there's no such thing as bad publicity, she wrote in her April letter to readers: 'Part of the pleasure of editing Vogue, one that lies in a long tradition of this magazine, is being able to feature those who define the culture at any given moment, who stir things up, whose presence in the world shapes the way it looks and influences the way we see it.

'I think we can all agree on the fact that that role is currently being played by Kim and Kanye to a T. (Or perhaps that should be to a K?)'

And she called the cover, which shows the 33-year-old in a white strapless Lanvin wedding gown as Kanye cuddles up behind her, 'charming and touching.'

Meanwhile, a source reportedly told E! Online that supermodel Kate Upton was originally due to be on the April cover before the decision was made to use Kim and Kanye instead.

But Vogue communications director Hildy Kuryk denied the rumour, saying: 'We are all huge supporters of Kate here at Vogue and have been thrilled to feature her numerous times in the past year, both on the cover and inside the magazine.

'There was never a cover commitment made to Kate, and we look forward to working with her in the future."

The blonde beauty was featured inside the issue in a number of gorgeous gowns.

Vogue morphed into People magazine back when they put Michelle Obama on cover. Their sales are down anyway so Anna probably thought that putting Kim on might attract the Kim lovers out there. Whether or not they outnumber the Kim haters remains to be seen. We'll see how well this issue sells. My guess is not very well - the ones with Lena Dunham and Michelle Obama didn't sell very well. People who buy Vogue want fashion, not reality show stars.

It's really snobbish of people to think Kim or Kanye can't be in vogue. It's the snobby attitude that provides a barrier between the upper and lower middle classes thinking that certain people shouldn't be allowed to do things because they are not revered enough. I don't like Kim because she represents a culture of people who are famous for nothing BUT if she is into fashion and spent thousands on Dior Chanel etc promoting them why can't she be on the cover. Wintour knew this would be controversial but would create publicity. I guarantee the majority of people complaining rarely buy vogue or even own a piece of haute couture.

Vogue is now in league with trashy mags like OK, People, Life and Style. What a come down.

DONT FEED THE MONSTERS! quit watching their show and do NOT buy the mag. These people are only famous (because of the people, sadly). If the tv show flops they will go away! Every reality tv show that flopped, the so called "reality stars" also went away once their show was off the air. If people give interest to these fame monsters sadly they will be here to stay (and its 7-8 years much too long). Last time clicking on a Kim article (yes even that keeps the fame monster alive as well; webhits).

I think the point is that Vogue was reality show free. Hope it has its lowest sales. Kanye bought Kimmie Burger Kings - wonder what he bought Anna?
