Sadly, Mickayla Friend's (pictured left) 16-year-old boyfriend, Mateus Moore (right) - who her family describes as her 'first love' - didn't survive.And according to witnesses, Friend may have been killed as well had Moore not pushed her out of the way at the very last second, keeping her from getting pinned underneath the train. It remains unclear why the teens didn't hear the train's horn when it sounded as it was bearing down on them as they walked down the tracks.

Florida officer Ricky Urbina, 44 (main), who was under investigation for sexual battery and kidnapping, is believed to have shot himself as deputies were on their way to arrest and charge him on Thursday. Mother-of-two Kristen Tavares, pictured, has been left in a coma after having routine dental surgery in Hawaii to remove her wisdom teeth. The 23-year-old, pictured right with her boyfriend and children, went into cardiac arrest on Monday, as Dr John Stover, inset, tried to remove four teeth. Tavares, who gave birth to her second son just three months ago, was described as fit and healthy, and had no medical conditions or allergies.

A massive landslide of mud, trees and rocks in rural Washington killed three people on Saturday, critically injured an infant and several others, and destroyed six houses, authorities said. So strong was the force of the slide, it carried a house with people still inside across a road in rural Snohomish County. Heavy rain in the area, about 55 miles north of Seattle, likely contributed to the mudslide, despite Saturday's weather being sunny and clear. Mud, trees and building materials were still blocking State Route 530 near the town of Oso in both directions as of late Saturday afternoon. Cascade Valley Hospital was expecting more injured people, they said.

Three female elephants managed to escape from their holding at a circus near St. Louis on Saturday, trampling several cars (left) in the car park and taking 45 minutes for trainers to occupy them. No one was injured. The incident occurred around 5pm during a performance, with the trio bursting out the back of the arena in St. Charles, Missouri, and running through the car park. Witnesses said 'things started shaking' and the trainers were screaming for 'any kind of food' in order to calm the animals down and corral them back together (top right). Circus officials have not explained how the creatures came to free themselves. They are expected to return to their duties regular duties (bottom right) on Sunday.

Ashlyn (right) and Devyn (left) Sisson, 23 and 22 years old, respectively, were traveling down Paper Mill Road, just north of Newark, Delaware, when the older sister lost control of her 2002 Plymouth Neon, crossed a low concrete median and slammed into a utility pole, killing both women. Their deaths are the ninth and tenth automobile fatalities on that stretch of road since 2000. The two sisters crashed as they were driving home from work at The Greene Turtle Sports Bar and Grille in Newark, where co-workers were grieving the loss of the two young women.

An Illinois father is dead, his teen daughter and her friend are injured after a plane he was piloting nose-dived into a residential neighborhood Saturday in Florida.
