By Mike Larkin

The Oscar nominated actress hardly took on an easy role for her big debut either, as she is playing lead character Sally Bowles, the role made famous by Liza Minelli in the 1972 movie version.

But the My Week with Marilyn star pulled off one of her best performances yet in the musical extravaganza, which is set in 1931 Berlin as the Nazis are rising to power.

It was no mean feat, for the the 33-year-old had to roll back the years to play a character who is 14 years younger on the stage.

Luckily she had big name assistance to help her through, as flamboyant Scots heartthrob Alan Cumming was returning to the production as the Emcee character.

Heartthrob Alan Cummings? Hardly DM. I didn't know Michelle could sing. I wonder why she kept her blonde hair for the role when every other actress has always had dark hair for the role?

How is hair color even remotely critical to the role?
