Many couples reach that point in their relationship when they don’t feel the need to make an effort with their attire.

It looks like Evan Peters is right there with his fiancée Emma Roberts.

The American Horror Story star stepped out in a brown T-shirt and basketball shorts, while tying his bleach blonde hair back into a mini ponytail as he took his girl for lunch.

Clearly Emma, 23, didn’t seem to mind, though she had clearly made a more fashionable effort with her outfit.

The actress wore a marl grey T-shirt tucked into skinny jeans with white trainers and a black beanie as she walked arm-in-arm with Evan after dining at West Elm on Sunday afternoon.

The two seem to be taking a break from filming, having recently seen the conclusion of American Horror Story: Coven hit the small screen, in which they both starred.

Relaxed: Evan wore a brown T-shirt with basketball shorts and his bleached hair tied up in a half ponytail

She's hip: Emma looked cool in a marl grey T-shirt, jeans and a beanie hat as they grabbed a late lunch at West Elm

But next for Evan, 27, is the silver screen in more ways than one, as Pietro Maximoff (AKA Quicksilver) in X Men: Days Of Future Past.

Peters joins X Men characters from the old franchise and the new team up to fight a new threat, with Wolverine (Hugh Jackman) going back in time to prevent a global disaster.

James McAvoy and Patrick Stewart play Charles Xavier young and old; with the same going for Michael Fassbender and Ian McKellen as Magneto.

Jennifer Lawrence (Mystique), Nicholas Hoult (Beast) and Lucas Till (Havoc) also return for the sequel to X Men: First Class, with Ellen Page (Shadowcat) Halle Berry (Storm) and Anna Paquin (Rogue) thrown into the mix.

But Evan won’t be the only one bringing Quicksilver to life on the big screen, as Aaron Taylor-Johnson plays the speedy role in Avengers: Age Of Ultron.

In the comic books, Quicksilver and his twin sister Wanda Maximoff (AKA Scarlet Witch) – to be played by Elisabeth Olsen – hope to join the Avengers having previously been members of Magneto’s Brotherhood of Evil Mutants.

So clearly Evan and Aaron will be playing very different versions of their mutant character.

X Men: Days Of Future Past will be in UK cinemas on 22 MAY 2014, while Avengers: Age Of Ultron his scheduled for a 1 May 2015 UK release

I'm no expert, and I don't know either of them, but they seem mismatched to me. She seems too young, for one thing...but I know how heady young love can be. She seems well put together and on top of her life, but he seems like a big slob to me. Why doesn't he put more care into his appearance? He's only 27 now, but give him another 20 years. Then what?

I remember him from American Horror Story. It looks like he has puffed up quite a bit since the season ended, and has otherwise let himself go. She doesn't look like a girl in love here.

He usually has his hair shorter and brown. I believe he's letting his hair grow for AHS 4. Specially after hearing the title, it could make sense. He's a great actor.
