Crack those thumbs, grab an umbrella drink, and get ready to samba as Angry Birds Rio lives on! We’ve got an exclusive pre-release look at the brand new “Rocket Rumble” update that will land tomorrow is now available for iOS, Mac, PC, and Android! More platforms will have this update soon.
The new update will take the beloved Angry Birds Rio franchise to explosive new heights and set the stage for a total of four new Angry Birds Rio episodes — all visually tied to Fox’s Rio 2 (out in April ’14). All this new content will be released over the next six months or so.
This update includes
- 20 explosive new levels – If you’re stuck, check out 3-star walkthroughs.
- 6 special bonus levels with Rocket Chuck! These are unlocked as follows:
- Three star-based levels unlocked at 30, 40, and 50 stars;
- Two feather-based levels unlocked at 7 and 15 feathers;
- One rocket-based level unlocked at all 10 golden rockets.
- New birds! Stella makes her bubbly debut, and Chuck (aka, Rocket Chuck) straps himself to a rocket to help you in the bonus levels.
- Explosions galore! Hit the fuse to set off some spectacular fireworks!
- One new achievement for iOS.

Looking forward to this update, but I can’t play all these games at the same time (AB SW II, AB Seasons, AB SW, AB Go and also AB Rio). The only game I have finished so far is AB original Birdday Party.
Well just be happy Rovio still releases updates for your platform. The only platform I have is the Nook and it hasn’t been updated in eons. I would say having lots of new levels to eventually play is a lot better than be left out in the cold.

I usually play them all through once, then go back and three star them beginning with the first one that was released.
It’s nice to have so much excitement so many days in a row, and when I finally get all my three stars in one game, I still have more to play!
I feel for you on the Nook. Even though I get frustrated with how long some of these updates take for the PC, at least we get updates.
I hope Santa is good to you and gives you another tablet for Christmas!
Wow. This looks amazing. And who would’ve thought that they would update Rio? I guess they’re dropping the storyline now.
Is there any word on the Rovio account sync for Rio or the other AB games that don’t currently have it?
It is a very active project by Rovio.
And ABN will use our Rovio account data in order to avoid a restless typing job? ;-)
No we don’t have access to Rovio’s servers.

Unfortunatly still no way to turn them off. But Rovio did double the amount of times it takes for them to show up so at least the game is playable now.

Just when one’s day is made with the new levels in Star Wars, then another surprise…new games in Rio. Life is good and it will be fun to play in the next few weeks and months. Looking forward to the enjoyment and entertainment of more flying birds.

Wow, I got home and turned on the computer and saw this!!! We will have a fifteen hour drive this weekend, (my husband drives), so I will have plenty to keep me from being bored on the way!
Well didn’t I predict Rio 2 game in 2014 last year, I guess cool of Rovio not to be commercial :-)
Will all levels be separated into 2 chapters, like seasons? One for the original Rio movie, and one for Rio 2?

Seven AB games.. six have pigs, another just for pigs.. but this one’s got monkeys! :) and out of all, I replay my Rio all the time… the others, when I’m done, I’m done.

Like I said, this has been a month of updates for Angry Birds. The only thing that could make this better is if they’d make Angry Birds Star Wars 2 Free.
Now I have over 150 levels in ABO, ABSp, ABS, ABSW, ABSW II and BP + AB GO! uncompleted. That’s just too much. I am not excited, I am worried that I am not able to keep up with all these new levels, new games. OMG, Rovio, please slow down.

Me too! I miss only Rio’s 6 bonus levels (already activated), then go on to ABSp and then ABSW and then… oh my!! More Space, less time… is this Relativity?? :-/

Just downloaded it. The update caused me to lose all of my golden fruit trophies. What gives?
@crbassassin The Trophy room was changed in the last update. Now your progress is at the top of the level select screen. I liked the old method better.
I guess with this update Rovio has lowered required destruction in impossible Trophy Room Cherry ME level. I haven’t passed this level, but after this update I have feather. That’s good.
I can confirm this.. I was at 98% total destruction, and now I’ve got the 100% feather.. I’m glad not to have wasted (too many) hours trying to get that 100%.
Now Rovio, please slow down.. I lost track of what levels I still need to play. At some point this becomes level overload….

While we can say Rovio is becoming more generous these days, but releasing the Rio update on a Wednesday must be a marketing strategy. This is just my hunch because Cut the Rope 2 has just been released today as well. I’ve just downloaded that game as well.
As for the Rio update itself, I haven’t played much, but the addition of the rockets just got this game very interesting. Imagine, relying on the rockets just to three-star a level.
I don’t like the rocket yellow birds in the bonus levels, they are too small to see what direction they are facing when you try to aim them.
Yippee! All these updates makes up for SW2 and those silly/expensive Telepods ;) Rovio must have tripled their work force to produce so many updates and new games.
Love the new Rio episode. The rockets are great fun. Finding Rio much easier than DS 2. But how am I going to finish my Christmas shopping?

I thought those bonus rocket birds might be easier on PC because you can see them better, but I am having just as much trouble with them on PC as I did on my phone.

Focus on the purple top of the rocket, as Chuck spins around you have to time where the rocket points.. and ya, I’m with you there, it took me a while and it’s still challenging.

This is a fun new episode for Rio, but I absolutely detest the Rocket Chuck bonus levels. This new version of Chuck is no fun & way too hard to control.

I have no idea how to work the rockets; they fly off in the wrong direction every time!
When you activate the ability, your bird will travel in the direction the rocket is pointing.
“The” direction… try to point out where it’s pointing to, really hard
Timing is hard. Visually seeing the direction isn’t really.
Hopefully when Rio 2 comes out, new levels will come out too. Maybe even a new game that takes up space on your phone/PC/Mac/gaming system/life.
I have the PC update and played to 3 stars in all levels & collected all 10 rockets, completed 30, 40 & 50 star levels & 10 rocket level to full stars too. But I don’t have those two feather levels said to get with 7 & 15 feathers. If am reading correctly as this is from PC update, those are included (?), but is that wrong for the PC version. Thanks?
PC does not have the Mighty Eagle at this time, and thus does not have access to those levels.
