Elton John may have celebrated his birthday a little late, but he did it in style at the grand opening of his new champagne lounge in Las Vegas on Friday night.

The singer who turned 67 on Tuesday, toasted to another year with partner David Furnish at the Caesars Palace Hotel.

Marking both momentous occasions, Elton celebrated with a dazzling three-tiered pearl and ebony cake.

The father-of-two remained demure in his choice of birthday suit as he opted for a blue pinstriped two-piece and blue T-shirt.

Wearing his trademark glasses, the Rocket Man hitmaker accentuated his clothing with a collection of skull inspired jewellery.

For David, 51, the understated look was not an option as he slipped on his favoured Dolce and Gabbana sequined tuxedo jacket, which he co-ordinated with a black shirt, tie and pair of trousers.

The couple were joined by long-time friend Sharon Osbourne, her daughter Kelly and Swedish actress Britt Ekland.

All three women rocked the red carpet in their respective little black dresses.

Elton and David were one of the first gay couples to enter into a civil partnership in 2005.

David told Attitude magazine: 'Elton and I will marry - as a high-profile couple, we feel it is our duty to do it, to make sure that everyone knows that this is something that many gay men living in this country never dreamed would happen.

'When it was announced that gay couples were able to obtain a civil partnership, Elton and I did so on the day it came into law.’

David also noted there was a 'massive difference between' using the word 'partner' and 'husband' when describing a relationship.

He added: 'Elton and I both think there is a massive difference between calling someone your 'partner' and calling them your 'husband'.

Whatever you think of Elton he is a genuine A lister. The three female guests mentioned at his bash are a million miles from that and one of them, kelly o, probably a billion miles.
