'Perfect way to start the day!' Lea Michele bonds with her mother on morning hike

She has had a tumultuous year but Lea Michele can always rely on her family.

The Glee star - who is still recovering from the shock death of her boyfriend Cory Monteith due to a heroin overdose last July - enjoyed a hike with her mother Edith Sarfati in Studio City, California on Saturday.

And the star couldn't wait to share the moment with her Twitter followers, posting a picture of herself standing at the top of a hill which she captioned: 'Such a nice hike this morning with my mom:) Perfect way to start the day! #HappySaturday'.

Lea was dressed in pedal pushers and a Soul Cycle vest for her outing with her mother, and a sweater tied around her waist.

She pulled her dark hair back off her face with a headband and protected her eyes with some large sunglasses.

Lea kept herself hydrated with a bottle of Fiji water.

Her mother was equally casually dressed, in shorts and a T-shirt and she covered her dark hair with a baseball cap.

The pretty star recently revealed that it was late boyfriend Cory who made her feel beautiful.

'Cory made me feel like a queen every day,' the 27-year-old revealed to Seventeen Magazine.  'From the minute he said, "I’m your boyfriend," I loved every day, and I thank him for being the best boyfriend and making me feel so beautiful.'

'I only have happy memories of Cory,' she added.  'He was not his addiction – unfortunately, it won. But that wasn’t who he was.'

The Bronx native recently released her first solo album, Louder, and - despite the fact that she originally wanted to make a pop-heavy album that was 'fun and empowering' - she naturally produced deeper numbers inspired by 31-year-old Monteith.

'I found myself picking and writing these songs that were very emotional and dramatic,' she recalled.  'Louder has songs that express extreme love and some pain.'

Lea also revealed that starring on Broadway has helped her to become more comfortable with her body.

'I'm very comfortable with my own body,' she said.  'I come from Broadway – everybody’s naked on Broadway.  I’m not going to run around naked or anything like that unless I’m at my own home.

'Today, I walked into my backyard and was standing out there naked for a while. Don’t tell: My neighbours will freak out!'

I hate to say it but there's something that just doesn't sit right with me with this girl. If I had just lost the love of my life I would not be appearing on every tv show going, talking about it constantly and promoting my newest album. I don't find her genuine.
