Bayern confident Kroos will snub United and sign new deal with German giants

By David Kent

Bayern Munich chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge says Toni Kroos is not going anywhere, even though an agreement over a new contract is yet to be reached.

The German international midfielder has turned down Bayern's first offer of a new deal, laying down his own terms to sign on the dotted line.

Should he not commit to a new contract, Bayern only have two more transfer windows in which to sell the 24-year-old, or they end up losing him on a free transfer in 2015.

Manchester United are believed to be one of the clubs monitoring the situation, and they can take a closer look at the midfielder in action when he plays against them in the Champions League on Tuesday night.

However, Rummenigge has warned that is as close as they are going to get to signing him.

'Toni Kroos will definitely still be playing for us next season,' Rummenigge told the Munchner Merkur newspaper.

'Furthermore, we want him to carry on wearing our shirt beyond 2015.'

Kroos is not concerned by the rumours of a move to the Red Devils either.

'That doesn't come into it,' he said. 'I'm flying to Manchester with only one thing on my mind, which is to qualify for the semi-finals of the Champions League.'

On Monday Night Football, Gary Neville said earlier in the season that if United win the title this year, it would be the greatest even title win in the history of the premier league. In that vein, if this transfer happens, it will be the greatest transfer story in the history of existence. And when he does sign a new contract for bayern, it will be the greatest obvious thing that has ever happened in existence.

The thing that makes me laugh is we all sell our players to these clubs & when we want something off them they act as if we are strangers. Is that our problem? Yes because who sells there best player? We do :*(

Fair play to him if he's managed to pull a Rooney on Bayern Munich

Problem is that Bayern aren't as reliant on Kroos as United are on Rooney. Kroos needs to be careful he doesn't get burned. I don't believe for one second he wants to leave Bayern. He just wants the same pay as Robben, Ribery etc. He will get it but Bayern will drag it out for as long as they dare - otherwise they will just have to pay him more sooner. May as well keep him on his current wage until they haven't got a choice.

If kroos did become available, and i very much doubt it, and it becomes a bidding war, then i'm afraid to say united would get blown out of the water by the super powers of Barca, Real, PSG, Man City and Chelsea

United are a big club - no question. And yes they can offer the same wages as others and a starting spot which some of the others may not be able to. But Kroos isn't going to want to leave Bayern who are winning everything to a team who are in transition and may not win anything for a few years. It would be a risk. A player's career is short and if Madrid etc can offer the same wages and the realistic chance of trophies straight away he will likely take that option. United need to look for up and coming players to turn into stars rather than the finished articles. Or at least proven PL players (although I am not suggesting Kroos couldn't make it in the PL).
