From the first chapter to the last Bar Girl tells a harrowing tale of life in Asia where the only thing that matters is money, where love and respect have to be bought rather than earned, and where women always come second.

I found this a realistic account of the surface of Thailand bar life and can only assume it is a realistic account of the village and family problems encountered in rural Thailand. It captured real life as it is for some people. A first rate read, well written and having had some experience of the wilder side of Far Eastern social life, it was believable. I loved it, Thankyou David.

I wasn't expecting much from a free book about bar girls. However, this book turned out to have an interesting story and was well written. You might as well give it a look if its still free!

I thought this would be a sleazy exposé of life as a bar girl in Thailand, a light and fun read - but it wasn't that!

5.0 out of 5 stars An Excellent Read 23 Sep 2013

I really enjoyed this, which was quite a surprise. Most books written on the subject are pretty lame and obvious, and often poorly written. This one is very engaging and very well written, thanks for a good read.

5.0 out of 5 stars Cruelties behind the glamour 18 Sep 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
This book portrays how life really is for the thai bar girls. How their station is in life can easily mould them into an occupation that they believe is the answer to all their dreams. To meet the rich farang (foreigner) to enable them to have a house.new car, support their family and plenty left over to spend. For most of them, it remains only a dream. The expats that come to live here can also be in for a rough ride. The Siam smile. What lies behind it? The plot to the book kept me gripped to the end. A great read, particulary, if you have visited Thailand.
