Welcome back for another exciting Head2Head! In our opinion, August usually kicks off the gaming season and this year is no different. First up on the list of big named titles is Eidos’s Deus Ex: Human Revolution for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. Its been 8 years since the last Deus Ex game and we couldn’t wait to put this much anticipated prequel under our Lens.

360 is too dark, and PS3 looks alot more colorful. Another great game with a PS3 win in the head 2 head. Enjoy your Call of Juarez win, Xbots.
360 is too dark as far as eye appeal for the first couple, but for the datapad screenshot and others, you can clearly tell the 360 version is more colorful. Also, the PS3 version seems to lack shadows in areas but is clearer in others in part because of its lack of shadowing. To be honest, I think there really isn’t any difference that some TV calibration can’t fix.
PS3 more colorful? LOOOOOOOOOOL HAHHAHAHAAH just look the 7th pic,everything looks more colofur in the xbox pic,maybe you just saw the wrong pic,you mistook the screenshots haha.

sigh… not only does he get first post but is so far off base its sad.
#1 contrast can be adjusted, color scale is the same on both (people who point out the dark/light are morons), what you want to look for are missing shadows and lights. (although you can see color banding on the ps3 version in the closeups of Adam Jensen which means it actually does need to be darkened)
#2 360 version is using fxaa has phenomenal edge anti aliasing. ps3 version of the aa is much more restrained look at the curtain shot.
#3 anisotropic filtering is on par (at first i thought it was better on ps3 but changing the contrast they look the same)
#4 missing shaders on ps3, the stools have a specific sheen which is absent in the ps3 version (ya its specific but a missing shader could mean there are more surfaces which are missing later in game)
overall 360 wins since the better aa, and the shaders but not that it matter this site as its a haven for sony fanboys.

I agree that the 360 version is too dark. I will adjust that out with the settings on the game. The real test will be the performance of the FULL head to head. Then we’ll see. Until then I gotta laugh at the ps3 fantards boasting about this when they are consistently crying about the washed out ps3 stuff on here.ROFL.
Funny that Addictednoob is calling people “fanboys”. But I’m sure you’re not one, right? and BTW…the 360 version has superior lighting, but it’s still tough to tell, both versions look pretty good.

Anyway, yeah, you are a fanboy and quite an annoying one.
I don’t think these screenshots are going to prove anything being so damn small. Maybe fullsizing them so we can see the jaggies will help you see through the “lens of truth,” but with images this small it’s impossible to tell if the shaders are weaker or not since they AREN’T. Only gameplay can show how good a game looks.
So far, both games render their shaders the SAME, but contrast post-processing will show you color difference.
The PS3 utilizes blacks and contrast differently, so that the screen is never “too dark,” whereas the 360 has the contrast setting to instigate more contrast and color and not give a shit whether it’s too dark or not. This makes scenes in Gears look more dynamic and colorful, it makes scenes in Halo vibrantly colorful, but it also makes third party games look darker and harder to see.
The only thing you CAN tell in the 7th pic is that the 360 uses more contrast, very little AA in stance for more bloom, while the PS3 uses regular contrast, eh AA, and very little bloom. This is all about what you think looks better–jaggies with a filter, or less jaggies with a little filter.
Now, by contrast–the 8th picture shows higher quality shaders in the PS3 version than the 360 version–in a non-cutscene where it actually matters. The curtains have more depth, the columns are bump-mapped, the screen and lighting is smoothly illuminated, you can see the details in her necklace and more quality in the foliage and the screen behind her. Even the textures in the books are rendered better.
Then again, it’s a screenshot that’s been reduced in size by more than half, so it’s impossible to tell. Seriously, Lens of Truth, get some 720p screens, not 300p. It’s just ludicrous.
You could also buy a gaming PC. The graphics for Deus Ex are twenty thousand times better than this console crap.
Oh, and stop trolling man, LOLOLOLOL, is the best way to look like a fanboy, and then you leave no good case for yourself–showing the evidence in one single picture to say it has to be better because the 360 version looks worse in all the others? You really do look like you’re sucking Steve Ballmer’s dick. Don’t kid yourself though, all these differences can easily be fixed through contrast and seeing actual HD gameplay instead of these low quality reduced screenshots.
Show us the PC version, the console versions both look 5 years old, covered in jaggies like all console games, I want to see something from this decade please!

As for the head to head, the 360 looks a little blurry in some shots, and also a tad too dark. But the PS3 seems a little too bright, and the colors seem a little less vibrant.

Agree the 360 seems to have some blur going on. And I’m not fond of the overly dark picture. So if i had to choose a version judging only by these shots and not performance i would probably go with PS3.
But anyhow i too am getting the PC version, i just feel thats where it should be played, also you get the nice old school inventory grid, that Deus Ex had. And of course the visuals will be miles better.

Why do so many people think pc gaming is king, I have found them to be awkward and frustrating with potential hardware or software compatibility issues. Just the other day I bought a cheap game on steam but still can’t get the dam thing to run, this kind of thing will never happen on consoles. I only recently got into pc gaming after building my own rig, at first I was amazed by the graphics but at the end of the day its just eye candy and graphics don’t always equate to great game on any platform.
@Lostmuppet: Wasn’t it Sin1 that weren’t working Dan? Hi cousin! I gotta admit PC’s are complicated and unless your patient and very persistent it’s not worth the hassel. However if your playing games that are regularly updated by Steam:(L4D, HL, TF2, Portal, etc), they’re regularly updated on software & hardware and they’ve never disappointed me. And if I see another person quote from Carmack I will go Freddy Krueger on your ass and kill you in your sleep.

Agree the PC version is only worth buying but thats only if you have a good PC [and many people here dont lol], as for the consoles ovcourse they are 5 years old graphically because the consoles are 5 years old.
As far as the consoles go for a multiplat it looks pretty good with good AA and resolution.
But I will be playing this in 1600p on max not 720p on low lol
I have a decent PC but still prefer the console versions of games simply because of their ease of use and the fact that I can sit on the sofa in comfort with a pad. What happens when windows 8 comes out and then all those fantastic PC versions suddenly have compatibility issue lol.

And that said, I’d never play games on this machine because I just love being on my couch and having relax while playing videogames.
And besides I use my laptop for work.
Guys why the hell dont you put your PC on your TV and chill on the sofa with a pad just like a console ? lol thats what I do its sick.

And laptops arent very good for gaming, they have overheat issues and you cant overclock them.

mine is a professional laptop, doesn’t overheat even if you put it into the oven.
And its performances are damn good: it’s a portable workstation.
To answer your first question with another question: why the hell do I have to bore myself putting the pc on my tv? I mean, then I have to get it back to work, and then to plug it in again to play…
…no way man: consoles are for comfort, PCs are not, let’s face it.
Laptops are never as good as Desktops with the same specs for gaming, even EXTREMELY expensive gaming laptops arent, let alone just powerrful ‘work’ laptops, you cant overclock them and they get hot losing performance while gaming.
As for hooking your PC up to your TV exactly like a games console you can have it how you want or do what you want with a PC. Personly I have my PC hooked up to my TV exactly like my consoles and with a pad, the only differece is I can play it up to 1600p and have games on max settings and 60+ fps.
And then I have a good laptop for everything else. If I wanted to I could move my PC to under my desk and plug it into my other monitor no problem with no effort atall. But I use it mostly for gaming.
So I chill on my cushty bean bag with a controller and play it just like a console, lets face it you can do what you like with a PC.
I don’t know what screenshots you are looking at. The PS3 version clearly shows more aliasing in many of the pictures. It also looks too washed out on my display. Other than that they look very close.
The more important question is how they perform in terms of screen tearing and frame rate.
The PC version is going to be far superior anyway. That’s the version I’m getting.
That’s such a sad fanboy comment, the only difference was that the Xbox has slightly better contrast, look at everything black on the Xbox, and see the PS3′s pic, it looks like there’s this grey filter over it, it’s darker yeah, but not too dark it’s just the way it’s supposed to be, but being a fanboy you quickly want to call this a win for your precious console, this was closer to a tie in graphics, contrast is hardly a sign of computing power. I would like to see the PC version thrown in the mix.

also while at first I thought it was a PS3 win (specifically the detail on his jacket in one of the early comparisons) but after looking through the rest it honestly looks like it’s going to have trade-offs for both systems.

What amazes me when reading the comments that follow a LOT review, is how critical / stereotypical the responses are from both XBOX fans and PS3 fans, it’s very rare outside of LOT’s review that someone gleams a completely unbiased review that actually adds value post LOT’s review.
I own an XBOX 360, PS3, WII and a fairly strong gaming PC, when coming to LOT’s site I hope to get information that aids me making the right choice when buying a game, that being said I have to admit when a title is console or PC, PC has always produced the best results in terms of graphics, sounds and performance almost without question, but sitting behind a PC vs. sitting on the Sofa generally for myself unless the PC title is truly a visual festival of heavenly eye candy I often make a decision based on the best experience I can get from my consoles.
Now regarding Deus Ex, I have been in the UNFORTUNATE position of getting this on the XBOX as a gift and a few days before buying it on the PS3 – (How I made this decision before buying came down to the VOTES seen off the review which up until recently showed the PS3 to be the preferable platform).
If I was to add some value to this review it would be this, this game looks absolutely gorgeous, has all the typical bells and whistles to immerse a player in this amazing world irrelevant which console you play it on, my vote would be they are the SAME – HOWEVER this is not based on which one looked better, based on the information provided by LOT, but based on the experience and that the differences are so hard to truly spot that unless you wanted a merit badge for having nothing better to do than say my console is better than yours well then by all means continue to indulge your adolescent inferiority complex by believing that somehow by owning the better console this makes you king of your universe.
I need to point out one thing I have noticed and this is a personal view and may not be relevant to everyone I have had to save 2 custom pre-sets on my TV for the differences in colour, brightness and contrast on the XBOX and PS3 consoles what I to this day don’t understand (Or rather don’t care to understand) is why the 2 consoles seem to have slightly different colour, brightness and contrasts none the less depending on which console I play I have got a pre-set that I am relatively happy with, and hopefully this point benefits someone else who may have noticed the subtle differences.
I believe they visually look identical except for the darker contrast the Xbox 360 usually provides. It’s shocking considering it’s multi-platform and we all know the usual outcome with HD consoles. So this is quite impressive on the developer’s part. Looking forward to the performance analysis.
Well this was un expected… the PS3 is sharper and the Xbox has slightly more vibrant colours but too dark and not as sharp as the PS3…

I think the aliasing and any performance issues (like screen tearing and framerate drops) are the real deciding factors.
So far the 360 version looks a little better due to having better anti-aliasing.
No they are both the same in terms of how many jaggies there are on view, apart from the Xbox has a filter which results in a blurred image all over while the PS3 used a different form of AA which covers the jaggies up the same as the Xbox but isnt a filter so it doesnt blur the screen thus the PS3 version is crisper and more detailed.

You are the one who clearly doesn’t know what you are looking at. The PS3 version is the one exhibiting proper brightness and it is the 360′s default gamma levels that make it way too dark. The only reason why the 360 version’s aliasing is slighty less noticeable is because of that overly dark picture that helps to mask it. You’re allowing an optical illusion to sway your perception here. I will not at all be surprised if history repeats itself in the head2head and the PS3 version more similarly resembles the PC version. Such was the case with Dragon Age 2 and Portal 2. From what is seen here, colors, textures and overall image quality look equal across the board. Only difference is the fact that you can better see all the detail onscreen in the PS3 version due to proper default gamma levels. It’s true. The 360 version is just too damn dark even though it looks about as nice as the PS3 version.
Both versions look great. The only difference I can see is that the xbox version is darker. Other than that they look the same to me. I look forward to seeing the full h2h analysis.

Well, it’s mostly first person, but it does switch to a 3rd person view when you are in cover. I personally love it.

Graphically its identical… Xbox360 abit dark so im not sure its SSAO or anything… (cant really differentiate between SSAO/dark contrast lol)
But they did a wonderful job to come out with such impressive identical graphics on both platforms. Impressive.
The Xbox has a better colour but the ps3 has better lighting, so most antialiasing looks better on ps3 even though in some places Xbox seems to get a better view.
I prefer the ps3 version for the sake of clarity, though I do not buy this game.

There is no better lighting on the PS3 version. Are you talking about the differences in brightness, contrast and gamma?
That’s not what you would call lighting. In any case, that can at least partially be remedied by changing the in game settings or the settings on your tv.

The PS3 has a sharper picture anbd better lighting and the Xbox is too dark losing allot of detail in allot of screen shots and isnt as clear of a picture.

Will be playing this on PC though, 10x better. But its nice to see the devs making a game properly for both versions and not just one and porting it. shows that rthe PS3 is slightly better than the Xbox ;]
Yeah because you need the brightness turned up so high you see every detail in games? I know it was a way to make a game like FEAR less scary, but it hardly makes the game more immersive, the lightning is in favor of Xbox, although the difference is so little it’s adjustable. – Tie

The gamma’s too high on the PS3, the consoles are pretty tied in performance, although the PS3′s HW design is odd to say the least.
lol, would you like to elaborate your findings, or are you going to keep it simple (being a simpleton fanboy and all) and just say 360 has won.
Sure, they put in an overly complicated parralel CPU, and a pretty much unchanged nVidia 7800GT, this makes development a lot different compared to PC’s.
Where the Xbox has a Triple core IBM Power CPU, this was decided because a 3c6t CPU was meant to hit the sweet spot of gaming, it uses a ATI/AMD R520 that’s been modified, for an example with ED ram which makes it quite potent in certain games and loading textures, although with the latest games the 10Mb ED ram is showing to be a little too little.
but looking at this, to me it looks like on the HW side of things, MS atleast put a lot more effort in it, on the SW side, MS definitely did some neat tricks, but it’s clear that the PS3 handles media way better, so there’s some things to wonder about there.
The other thing is, as much effort as MS did put into the HW, clearly they didn’t do the same as for the cooling design. PS3 definitely has better and more quiet cooling, and it handles Movies and media a lot better, games however, I still play on my Xbox for the most time.
This wasn’t a 360 Win or loss, this is very obviously a tie.

i say ps3 judging by how the ps3 version has better lighting and clearer visuals than 360. The gameplay analysis though may change that and end up being a tie maybe, since pics aren’t always the best analysis to go on.

Both these can be adjusted on your tv anyway, i dont know how you got concluded that the AA is better on 360, as it varies depending on the screenshot! Also the resolution appears identical. The contrast on the 360 is too dark and loosing detal in dark areas and further making the picrure look slightly more blurry [the contrast is the result of the filter the game is using] and the PS3 character faces and overall picture is perfect colour saturation also with superior lighting, and the texture resolution is exactly the same on both.

I don’t think so. I believe that the PS3 version has no anti-aliasing applied, while the 360 version is probably using FXAA or something similar which does slightly blur the image, but also smooths out a lot of the jaggies.
Some of the screenshots on the second page definitely seem to show this.
I bet when further analysis is done my hunch will probably be proven to be true.

360 was a bit darker where as the colors in ps3 weren’t vibrant enough.
360 also seems to have a bit better AA but PS3 is sharper at times.

They both hide jaggies just as well as eachother but the PS3 isnt using a filter like the Xbox that blurs the whole screen very slightly so the PS3′s AA is better, its hides the jagges just as well but doesnt blur the rest of the screen resulting in a sharper more detailed and clearer image.
The colour on the PS3 is perfectly fine and also has superior lighting, the Colour on the Xbox is slightly too dark and loses detail and further blurs the screen in some areas [its not just the contrast, this is the result of the filter the Xbox version is using]

Yes Xbox does look blurry at times but the curtains on Picture 8 proves that the jaggies on the ps3 are more noticeable.

Picture 7 is a good example of Ps3′s colors looking a bit washed out and not as vibrant.
The orange on the screen should be darker than the “0″ button but it’s actually lighter on the ps3 version.
If you want vibrant put it on rgb full
The thing is though I’m comparing it out of the box.
The same thing could be said for the 360 version. Just increase the brightness.

Unfortunatly you couldnt prove that if you tried because they arent lol, Xbox is using a blur filter and dakr contrast to hide jaggies, PS3 is using superior AA to hide jaggies and does just aswell as the Xbox, in some cases the Xbox actually has more jaggies dispite the blurred screen and dark contrast and loss of detail, sometimes the PS3 has not more jaggies but more noticble jaggies because it isnt blures and the picture is sharp and detailed.
The Xbox has the same amount of Aliasing on view as the PS3, sometime the Xbox has more, sometimes the PS3 has more, but dispite the blurrieness of the Xbox version they are both the same

This game is a tie and nothing else 
The ps3 version and xbox version share the same level of detail. The color issue is humbug since a little change of settings on your tv can fix that.
I have mine set up just right to accomidate the color issues some devs manage to have with the ps3 version of games and my tv has a blur killer setting that kills any blur I experience with games, ad the blur killer doesn’t change the shrpness settting, it’s a built in filter for the tv.
This game is a tie for me in visuals and only performance will decide the winner thogh I hope it’s a tie as well.
Its not devs having a colour issue with the PS3 the PS3 outputs as it should its the 360 that gamma shifts everything which causes crushed blacks, read this:

Ok i just ragged on the Ps3′s inability to do cross game chat .I have to say the higher lighting looks better on the ps3.The 360 may have a sharper outline but the Ps3 pictures are a bit more appealing.xbox is too dark !

What is the power of cell processor. The processor of the ps3. 2 is capable of handling 747 aircraft of so powerful it is.
You can also dominate the 1000 cars gran turismo 5 which the Xbox 360 can not handle due to its 6 cores.
lol, first of all the Xbox doesn’t have 6 cores, it has 3 cores capable of handling 2 threads each, 6 threads, not as efficient as a true 6 core, but better than just being 3 cores, the Ps3 doesn’t have 8 cores, it has a lot of small “cores” that can be used in parralel coding, people overestimate how powerful it really is all the time, it’s decent, definitely, but it doesn’t make a good gaming processor, this is why PS3 games are harder to program, and why it’s hard for PS3 games to be portet for PC, while Xbox and PC share a lot of similarities.

SPU’s are not cores. It may be more efficient on the CPU side, but as far as games, not really, the Ps3 is a HPC with a decent GPU, not really designed minded on gaming. as for graphics on the exclusives, they aren’t that impressive.
The Cell is a 9 core processor, the SPU’s count as mini cores, sorry its just a fact that the technical term for the Cell is a 9 core processor, deal with it lol.
As for the graphics on the exclusives, they are better than any other games on the consoles… [Ucharted, Killzone, God of War] and are very impressive for 6 year old hardware.

I actually have both Killzone 3 and God Of War 3, which is why I say these aren’t that impressive, Killzone 3 is probably the least impressive, compare it to a cross-plat like The Cartel, easy choice for me.

Consoles rarely impress compared to the ability we find in Today’s PC, I like the fact that developers optimize for consoles, unoptimized PC games are the worst imo, never cared for Crysis. It’s not that the 6 year old(Or really 5 year old, but who’s counting?) Hardware is doing well because it was ahead of it’s time, it’s doing well because developers are optimizing the hell out of their games for it. Same with Cell phone CPU’s, the CPU’s suck compared to PC CPU’s, but they run Android and IOS very well because they are optimized for it.
TLDR, lol all I saw was Killzone compared with Cartel on a graphical aspect and I burst out laughing XD Killzone is amond the best graphical games on the consoles firmly allong with U3 nad God of War 3, its very well known lol

Overall looks fairly equal and seems to be a good conversion, may just come down to performance

Really quite a close call with the advantage changing from pic to pic.
PS3 does seem to have better anti aliasing. You can find instances where both versions do it better than the other but theres more instances of the ps3 doing it better. Im guessing PS3 is using MLAA whilst 360 prob has 2x MSAA.
The colour difference is a case off pick your poison. PS3 allows the finer details to show better whilst the 360 mostly looks more vibrant although its too dark at times. Would appear that the 360 has better SSAO.
Image quality goes too the PS3 with slightly better mip mapping and aniostropic filtering(backgrounds look sharper) although this only becomes evident in the zoomed in shots so is not really important.
All in all a close call with each version exhibiting some advantages but none significantly so to declare a winner.

Close screenshot h2h here, i can see some people preferring the brighter ps3 pics, although i think the overall look of the 360 version looks better(you can always turn the brightness up with the remote anyway).
The 360 version definitely seems to have some extra shadow/lighting effects though.
I also see more jaggies on the ps3 version on some shots.
A bit like the fear 3 h2h, that was also darker and better looking on 360.

And as for the brightness you can solve it through the TV.
The second difference is the shadow looks smoother in 360
PS3: high contrast, sharper.

Ps3 version does look sharper in some pics, less so in others.
It seems to be missing some lighting effects compared to the 360 version though.
Pic 7 on page 1 shows a nice orange LED display on the keypad causing a glow effect down the sides of the pad, it seems completetly absent on the ps3 version.
Someone else mentioned the orange light above the door missing on the ps3 version as well(page 2 near the bottom of the page).
Unless it’s just the way the shots have been taken(i doubt it), i’m surprised the LOT team didn’t do their usual little bits of text under certain pics saying ‘notice the lighting effect missing from ps3 version’
It’s just different SSAO and bloom implementations. This is one of those head to heads where no version is really better or worse. Both are just different from one another in subtle ways, but honestly when it comes down to it, they’re the exact same game.
I agree with you here, cant find any substantial differences that are consistent throughout the screenshots on one format. theres the usual gamma differences, which by now, is just retarded to consider as some sort of plus/minus for either format, as we all know that these exist and can be remedied easily enough.
The 360 does seem to have better aliasing in places, with ps3 version seeming to have some jaggies and artifacting in places. The 360 version does also seem to have some sort of edge blur in process, as the textures remain the same, but there is a slight lack of sharpness, making me question what kind of AA is in places on either version. Mlaa seems questionable on ps3, as theres too many jaggies. mlaa is known for artifacting as side effect of process in places, but jaggies are usually ironed out very effectively.i just dont think mlaa is being used here, maybe some sort of customised in house version of mlaa. There are also some pics where jaggies seem worse on 360 than ps3 version, but these seem fewer in occurrence.

Exactimundo, and I’m going to be playing this in 1080p will full Antialiasing and DX11. And when it comes down to is, Deus Ex was made famous by PC gamers and it’s pretty much a PC first franchise.
It’s almost like saying I’ll be playing this on pc is a way for fanboys to retain their allegiances , and not lose a head2head, as they “will be playing it on pc anyway”. So far the PS3 is the winner from the screenshots, and most of the gameplay videos have been of the PS3 version so it would suggest that is the best version.

Most of the screens look the same but some definitely favour the PS3. The PS3 version definitely looks sharper in places. The 360 version looks too dark but this is correctable.
Most of the developer commentaries use the PS3 version to show off the game and it has a solid framerate and no tearing. It does appear that this is the version they are most proud of (maybe just to show it’s not a shoddy port and is comparable to the 360). I expect the 360 will have similar performance.
Overall this looks to be a TIE.

The PlayStation 3 version looks much brighter and quite a bit sharper. It also looks like the PS3 is using AA of some kind while the 360 isn’t. This is a definite PS3 win.

Look at the screen with the floor that says ‘Caution’ on it – the 360 clearly has more aliasing. And if you look at the monitors and whatnot in the first screen, the text is much clearer on the PlayStation.
You can also look at the curtains on pic 8, the jaggies are more noticeable on ps3.
In pic 1 on the second page, the clipboards have more jaggies on ps3.
Ino the Xbox has more jaggies than the PS3 in some shots and the PS3 has more jaggies in some shots and in others its the same, they both have the same aliasing and are equal except the Xbox is using a not so nice blur filter which makes the screen blurry and has a dark contrast to also help cover the jaggies.
While the PS3 is using superior AA which covers the jaggies the same as the Xbox but doesnt blur the screen atall and has the correct contrast/gamma resulting in a sharper more detailed image.

No he is right, both versino have the same amount of Aliasing on show, some more in the Xbox shots and some more on the PS3 shots but both hide the jaggies equally.
BUT the 360 is using a filter which blurs the whole screen while the PS3 uses a superior AA which just hides the jagges and leaves a sharp detailed clear picture.
The PS3 has much better AA than the Xbox’s blur filter.
Cannot wait, bought the first Deus Ex games during the steam summer sale and played through both of them in preparation for Human Revolution.
Loved the first one. Second was ok, biggest problem I had with the second one was that the levels were small when compared to the original.
Both versions look the same to me, besides the 360 being darker.
May pick this up for pc though seeing as I played the other two on it.
I played the game a moment ago (on 360, but own ps3 too) and i noticed that the first screen was taken from a prerendered cutscene from the very beginning of the game …the actual difference in sharpness might be due to different levels of compression of the said cutscene
So does it become clearer? Is it case of slower texture streaming? Or does it remain less clear than what’s evident on ps3 in that shot , and is a case of just lower quality video being used , as if this is the case, we’d expect all images to be the same in terms of quality of image, whereas it generally seems to be almost exactly the same in terms of quality of images in cutscenes, and possibly better in terms of aa at least , in actual in game footage.
yes the actual game after the cutscene is sharp as far as i can see, but if it is less sharp then the ps3 version i can not tell as i do not own a copy on ps3.
seeing as some of the prerendered scenes at the beginnig use the ingame engine it is hard to tell at first that they really are video
I did not witness any texture streaming issues, but seeing as many textures are rather plain (although fitting the clean scifi theme pretty well) that might not be a problem anyway …the game itself on 360 seems to run rather well and fluently, but then again i only played like 20minutes or half an hour max

The Xbox360 gamma curve is off. The ps3 sRGB curve is more closer to gamma 2.2. That is why you see crushed blacks on the 360 pics.

PS3 looks a little washed out but on the other hand 360 is too dark and PS3 seems to be higher resolution. AA look the same. Overall the differences are negligible although PS3 is the slightly better. Not to mention it’ll feel better playing on the PS3 since it’s the better console not made by greedy Microsoft.
I watched 360 game play on you tube it looks the same as the ps3 when the orange light isn’t on the key pad and door is the same color.Lights are blinking all over the place.So lens of truth are giving you comparison picks they know 360 fan boys will say its better lighting better color.Even android realized this and it will come down to performance.
Picture #8 is the only one you can tell any differences at all. PS3 is missing shadows on the books, 360 has jaggies all over the place, objects where there isn’t a straight line(plant object next to it, curves on the woman, etc.) Every other screenshot looks identical.
Every other screen shot look identicle APART from the Xbox having the whole screen blurred in all of them and the PS3 having a sharper picture and the Xbox having a dark contrast losing detail and crushed blacks to hide more jaggies while the PS3 has correct gamma and a more detailed picture

i know, Ive already pointed this out earlier in thread, but overall, Id say theres a stronger case for better aliasing on 360 than ps3, with more instances of jaggies and artifacting on ps3 visible than on 360, in these screenshots at least.
nes i picked up on are.
p2 pic 1, the hair on old guy has less jaggies as does his lapels on his jacket.
pic 3 trousers on 360 less jaggy
6th pic down, edges of arms on womans’ jacket are smoother on 360.
3rd pic from bottom, the big object on desk, has artifacting on right hand side of it(it could be just the way the light is being reflected at that point is different to ps3 version, and looks like artifacting, but to me, it appears like artifacting)
last pic, at the very top of doors appears to have some artifacting on ps3 version, as well as on the bar touching floor on the table.
I think its better anisoptric filtering that makes the text clearer on ps3
The screenshot of Sarif on the second page seems a bit different than the other screenshots. The background of the Xbox 360 version seems slightly blurred and that somehow hides the jaggies better than the PS3 version. I think it might some kind of post-processing or maybe an implementation of a selective subtle blur filter. What do you think of that?

The textures seem to be same and that was only conclusion I could come to, that it was some some of edge blurring technique as used in brink and portal 2, but seems more refined than those 2.
Ps3 version looks to me to be using a custom version of mlaa that’s slightly less effective , like what is being used in uc3, where it’s not quite as refined as mlaa, but cheaper on ram, as Artifacting and the jaggies are not as well dealt with as mlaa would do.
Overall, no one will really notice any of these differences when watching on their own screen, so who gives a shiny rats ass.???

Anyway, what I find curious is that the effect isn’t constant though, I mean the scene with Sarif is the only place that I notice the effect is implemented. But the slightly blurred look does seem to yield a better result than whatever AA that was implemented in the PS3 version though (which I thought was 2xMSAA from the look of those jaggies). Anyway, I brought it up because I find it curious and thought that I should ask someone’s opinion about it, nothing more.
In any case, you’re right, these minor differences are so small I’m willing to bet that if we display the two versions side-by-side, hardly anyone will be able to tell one version from another while seeing them in motion.

I am going to stick my head out and say the Artifacting on ps3 version suggests it’s not msaa, but heck I could be wrong, it wouldn’t be a first.
It is weird that both the blur filter , the jaggies and Artifacting are inconsistent throughout on both versions. I have spotted blur elsewhere, but one you mentioned is probably one of most pronounced ones. Similarly , sometimes the aa on ps3 looks worse than 360 and in others not etc
Anyway, always nice to hear your opinion and feedback too, as you and Android ( never thought I’d say that ) are one of few sensible opinions on here these days.

Very minor differences really, but they are there if you look close enough.
Another minor difference that no-one will really care about is the first pic on page 2(under the guys pointing finger), the stool seems to have a missing shadow on the ps3 version.
You can even see it in the smaller picture bottom right of the larger one if you keep swapping between the two.
As the lighting effects differences have been proven to just be the way the shots were captured, it’s definitely a tie in my books.
Sounds fair to me tbh, each looks to have minor strengths and weaknesses.

As for the comparison, I think aside from those insignificant differences, both versions are visually, more-or-less, identical to one another. Although I feel rather disappointed that Eidos Montréal didn’t professionally calibrate each version’s gamma level so that they would match.
Anyway, I’m looking forward to see the full analysis soon.
Really not much to tell the two apart. The main difference as far as I can tell are the gamma differences which can be calibrated hopefully in-game or on your TV. Think a more thorough H2H is required.

The in-game assets are identical, which is fantastic. However we do see the typical contrast/color saturation discrepancy out of the box, also partially due to the output from the 360 HDMI and the HANA chipset.
With a bit of luck the final H2H and digital foundry will try to adjust the contrast and brightness to simulate how similar they actually are.
If the performance between platforms is similar, I guess this will be an exemplary multiplatform release! Let’s hope that’s the case so that everyone wins!

Wow. They look virtually identical besides the contrast differences. It’s weird though, the first few pics which I mistook as FMV (or.. are they?) looked a bit sharper on the PS3. But then everything else either favored the 360 or the PS3 or just looked 100% identical.
Just going to have to wait for a performance analysis. After seeing this game in action on both platforms… I don’t have high hopes for any of them. lol

ANDROID has multiple accounts its very obvious, when things got ‘tough’ for him recently and he wasnt around much because he got made to look abit of an fool lol, he pulled out old Buying1999 account to make some posts starting off with ‘Im back’ [lmao], he is funny it was very obvious for me from the start but I just sit back and laugh at how pethetic he is XD
He never replied to Buying and never posted at the same time sometimes looking as though he was going on Buying posting and then going on Android and posting but never posting to himself [lol]
There was also a few stints of buying out of nowhere replying to nearly all of my messages with random hatred like he knew me when we had never spoke before lol, its extremely obvious its Android XD
I have also said a good few times that its Android and he has obviously read it [replying to posts on other threads after] but ignored it and didnt defend it because he probly didnt know what to say lol
