'We had been growing apart for some time': Dani Behr reveals her nine year marriage to restaurateur Carl Harwin is over

Former TV host, Dani Behr has opened up about her recent marriage split to restaurateur Carl Harwin.

The 43-year-old told Hello! magazine that she split with her husband of almost nine years because they have so little in common.

The former presenter of Channel 4 shows such as The Word and The Big Breakfast, who is now based in Los Angeles, said long hours and moves to new locations added to the pressures.

The mother-of-two told the publication: 'We were married for almost nine years and we'd been growing apart for some time.

She continued: 'We moved to Costa Rica and Australia and, as Carl works such crazy hours - he'd often get home at 11pm and leave before the kids and I woke up the next morning.

'It was very isolating. I was like a single parent from the beginning.

'Carl had to be in Australia last year and I'd had enough of it.

'It's so far from everywhere and when you have two young children you want to have a support network around you.'

Behr, who also went on to present game show Ice Warriors and was a contestant on I'm A Celebrity ... Get Me Out Of Here! in 2008, said will be looking for new things in a future partner.

'What I learnt from my Carl is that opposites attract - at first,' she said.

'Later, you realise that you need to have things in common.

'Carl's a Malibu surfer dude and I'm a city girl. I like socialising and being around people; he wasn't like that.'

She added: 'When you're in that love bubble for the first few years you're very forgiving.'
