Lipnitskaia is a gold medalist in the team event at the 2014 Olympic Winter Games. She started skating at age four. She also tried out gymnastics but soon chose skating. She moved to Moscow to 2008 for better practice conditions. Skaters she looks up to are Patrick Chan and Javier Fernandez. Lipnitskaia missed the ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating Final in December 2012 and Russian Nationals 2013 (senior level) after suffering a concussion in a fall in training.
