Fashion-challenged Lena Dunham arrives to the Girls set prepared with notes and a green tea boost

By Jennifer Pearson

Lena Dunham may not wear the most flattering of clothes, but as the star, writer, creator and director of Girls she has enough hats to fill.

The actress was looking her unconventional yet usual self as she arrived to the New York City set of her hit HBO series on Tuesday.

Lena was prepared too, hugging a thick green notebook containing the day's scripted scenes and notes.

At least she's prepared: Lena Dunham arrived to work on the New York set of Girls on Tuesday armed with a green tea and the day's script

The 27-year-old helped the process along by sipping on what appeared to be a healthy green tea, which is loaded with benefits including improved brain function, fat loss and antioxidants.

Lena was initially spotted wearing black leggings, a pink T-shirt and a bright blue jacket, along with a pair of black, comfortable work shoes.

She later traded that casual outfit for a bulky and blanketing army-green down coat and black Ugg boots.

Her legs were covered up in pink tights and she appeared to be wearing black shorts underneath too as she strolled to where she was about to film a scene as scruffy and somewhat unfulfilled Hannah.

On Monday, Lena was in character and looking a little shocking while revealing her legs in an unflattering pair of shorts.

Teamed with her tight shorts was a clingy, blue-flowered top and those slip-resistant black shoes with socks apparently.

Short end of the stick: While Lena wore an unflattering pair of shorts, co-star Jemima Kirke looked feminine in a pink sprigged maxi-dress while shooting a scene for Girls on Monday

Next to Lena, co-star Jemima Kirk looked hippie cool in a flowing pink-sprigged dress, black boots and cardigan, so Lena's appearance looked all the more sillier.

Lena's alter ego Hannah is actually used to being insulted.

In one episode of Girls, Hannah tells a friend, 'No one could ever hate me as much as I hate myself, OK? So any mean thing someone is going to think of to say about me, I've said to me, about me, probably in the last half-hour.'

Courtney Stodden is a visual reprieve of feminism and beauty from Lena.
