Certificate PG-13   -   Comedy | Romance

Metascore: 39/100 (26 reviews)

The Buzz: Cameron Diaz enters her 40s busier than ever, with three movies due out this year alone. This comedy is conjuring thoughts of The First Wives Club reworked for a present-day trio which includes Leslie Mann (yay) and model-turned-actress Kate Upton. Comedy is hard though, you guys, and Nick Cassavetes has never directed or written one (though Melissa Stack, who landed a Black List script back in 2007, handled this screenplay).

Certificate PG-13   -   Horror

Metascore: 40/100 (12 reviews)
A university professor and a team of students conduct an experiment on a young woman, uncovering terrifyingly dark, unexpected forces in the process.

The Buzz: The sturdy Jared Harris should anchor this thriller from revamped classic-horror house Hammer Productions, who have The Woman in Black: Angel of Death queued for 2015. Harris has the Poltergeist remake lined up for the same year and his co-star, Olivia Cooke, currently stars in "Bates Motel" (which was just renewed for a third season) and also has Ouija in production.

Certificate PG-13   -   Action | Crime | Drama

Metascore: 38/100 (17 reviews)
An undercover Detroit cop navigates a dangerous neighborhood that's surrounded by a containment wall with the help of an ex-con in order to bring down a crime lord and his plot to devastate the entire city.

The Buzz: If things hadn't gone tragically wrong, this action movie - a remake of District B13 directed by Luc Besson's longtime editor Camille Delamarre - would have bridged the gap between Fast & Furious installments and reintroduced parkour to movie-going audiences. Instead, it's a penultimate look at Paul Walker before he is seen a final time in Fast & Furious 7. Rest in peace, good man.

Certificate R   -   Drama | Thriller

Metascore: 79/100 (20 reviews)
Ivan Locke, a dedicated family man and successful construction manager, receives a phone call on the eve of the biggest challenge of his career that sets in motion a series of events that threaten his careful cultivated existence.

The Buzz: While your average movie-watcher has probably seen Tom Hardy perform in any number of movies -- dating all the way back to his big-screen debut in Black Hawk Down -- he's certainly not a household name yet. This contained thriller might not turn him into a superstar, but we sense that part of its design is to help showcase his leading-man appeal against a more subdued backdrop than, say, The Dark Knight Rises.

Certificate Not Rated   -   Drama

Metascore: 62/100 (19 reviews)
After losing her virginity, Isabelle takes up a secret life as a call girl, meeting her clients for hotel-room trysts. Throughout, she remains curiously aloof, showing little interest in the encounters themselves or the money she makes.
Director:

The Buzz: Francois Ozon is one of the more consistent directors around, and his mastery of small narrative details tend to leave his audience feeling rapturous, happily manipulated, and embracing ambiguity. We're interested to see the level of interest in his sex drama with a detached protagonist since the art house hasn't fully warmed to similar stories of late - we're still perplexed by Nymphomaniac's underperformance.

Certificate R   -   Thriller

Metascore: 76/100 (18 reviews)
A mysterious outsider's quiet life is turned upside down when he returns to his childhood home to carry out an act of vengeance. Proving himself an amateur assassin, he winds up in a brutal fight to protect his estranged family.

The Buzz: We're quite intrigued by Jeremy Saulnier's Cannes-award-winning revenge thriller which positions his lifelong friend Macon Blair as a man so haunted by another person's violent act that he fully turns away from conventional society, only to return to it as a novice assassin.

Certificate PG-13   -   Drama | History | Thriller

Metascore: 59/100 (12 reviews)
The true story of an Argentine family who lived with Josef Mengele without knowing his true identity, and of a girl who fell in love with one of the biggest criminals of all time.
Director:

The Buzz: Director Lucia Puenzo should make major U.S. inroads for the first time with this adaptation of her novel, which delves into both the facts and folklore of Josef Mengele's post-WWII hideout in Latin America.

Certificate R   -   Documentary | Biography | History | Music

Metascore: 51/100 (11 reviews)
Johnny Depp pays a visit to Ralph Steadman, the renown artist and the last of the original Gonzo visionaries who worked alongside Hunter S. Thompson.
Director:

The Buzz: One reason why Johnny Depp's fame rarely tires us out is because he's a champion for his heroes; hopefully the real-life Depp will appeal to audiences with this documentary since the movie-star version has been blanking out lately, sadly.

Certificate PG-13   -   Action | Drama | History | Romance | War

Metascore: 44/100 (13 reviews)
A young man, separated from his family in WWII, disguises himself as a Nazi SS Officer and uncovers more than just his family whereabouts.

The Buzz: This film's true-story narrative and the presence of Ben Kingsley should help distinguish it from other specialty releases as the summer-movie season arrives. Cool to note that star Jonas Armstrong studied acting with one of Kingsley's sons.
