Look Lively! Blake gets animated on the set of her new period romance drama Age Of Adaline dressed in a 40s style ensemble

Blake Lively is most well known for her role as Serena van der Woodsen in Gossip Girl, a character with a fun and flirty wardrobe not shy of showing some skin.

But the 26-year-old actress is covering up for Age Of Adaline, pictured on set in Vancouver, Canada on Monday, swathed in a camel coloured pea coat over a turtleneck sweater, and a flouncy knee-length green skirt.

The Gossip Girl star covered her legs in pantyhose and strode along down a crowded street in a pair of brown pumps with two-inch heels.

She wore her long blonde hair swept back in an elegant low ponytail while carrying a little suede brown purse.

Not worried about staying in character, Blake goofed around and pulled a couple funny faces in between filming.

She plays Adaline, who is born at the turn of the 20th century but stops aging after recovering from a near-fatal accident.

Over the century, she embarks on an epic but isolated journey, until she meets a man for whom 'it might be worth losing her immortality'. 

Blake recently gushed to UK Vogue about her character’s period wardrobe.

‘…One of the most enticing parts of it is that it spans from the 1900s until now,’ she said. ‘The fashion is amazing, and my character gets to experience all of the different time periods and tell the story through fashion.

'It's not a movie about fashion, but it's an integral part of who she is and the whole story.’

Nevertheless, her personal wardrobe differs quite dramatically from Adaline’s.

‘The older I get, I guess I wear less sparkles,’ she told Elle. ‘And I know that someday my knees are going to look like elephant knees. But for now, my hemlines are still pretty high.’

Blake stars opposite Game of Thrones star Michiel Huisman, while the cast also includes Harrison Ford and Ellen Burstyn.

Filming began in March and her husband Ryan Reynolds has been seen spending time with her in the city since it got underway.
