But Emmy Rossum was more stylish than sporty as she put on a rather chic display at the grand opening of Under Armour's Brand House in New York City's Soho district on Tuesday night.

Turning heads in a dazzling dress, the 27-year-old actress rocked a feminine and flirty shimmer-disc embellished LBD as she perused the items on sale at the store.

Emmy wore her dark brunette locks pulled back from her face into an elegant chignon, and accentuated her perfect porcelain complexion with a slick of pillar-box red lipstick.

The striking starlet completed her party ensemble with a pair of towering silver heels, while accessorising with a simple silver cuff.

As a bona fide gym bunny, Emmy certainly seemed to be in her element as she browsed the garments on offer in the New York store, before picking up a pair of stylish fucshia running shoes.

Writing on her Twitter page after the event, she said: 'So pumped for my new workout shoes and thanks to @UnderArmour for having me tonight. Anyone for a midnight run?#UANY.'

The opening of Under Armour's new Brand House - its third in total - sees 10,000 square feet of retail space unveiled at 583 Broadway.

Susie McCabe, senior vice-president of global retail for the Baltimore-based sports brand, told the Baltimore Sun: 'It’s a really big deal for us, and the thing that I’m most excited about relative to opening this one store is that it helps us accomplish so many things.

'We really can tackle dominance in men’s apparel and really start focusing on the growth of women and footwear in this space.

'We're excited about getting our brand in front of New Yorkers, but also in front of all the international tourists and domestic tourists that come to this city.'

While Emmy seeemd to be enjoying mingling with a sporty crowd at the event, she recently admitted she wants to eventually settle down with a geek - rather than an athletic guy.

She previously said: 'I'm kinda more attracted to the nerd.

'I'm really into guys who are super smart and funny and can teach me something I don't know about.'

But the actress won't have much time to dedicate to the cause, with Shameless currently wrapping its fourth season, as well as the star having two movies coming out later this year.
