'Best day of the year!' Olivia Wilde can't contain excitement as she marks her first Mother's Day with baby Otis

Most people would pick Christmas or their birthday as their favourite day.

But new mom Olivia Wilde has declared Mother's Day to be the best day of the year, and celebrated by taking a stroll through New York on Sunday with her fiance Jason Sudeikis and their baby Otis.

The 30-year-old actress tweeted: 'Turns out Mother's Day is the best day of the year. Sorry x-mas!'

Dressed in flattering blue jeans, a loose-fitting T-shirt and tan ankle boots, Olivia smiled broadly as she enjoyed her first ever Mother's Day.

The Rush star gazed adoringly at her three-week-old son, who she pushed ahead of her in a black stroller. 

Meanwhile, 38-year-old Jason looked hip in a flat cap, aviator sunglasses, cobalt blue jeans and neon yellow shoes.

He also toted a much-coveted Leica camera around his neck, no doubt to have on hand for all the new family's firsts.

Olivia gave birth to Otis two weeks early on April 20, and wowed onlookers when she made her first red-carpet appearance just one week later.

She has also been actively tweeting since becoming a mother, giving humorous insights into her new role as a caregiver.

'This year, instead of attending the "Met Ball", I leaked milk, and ate an entire napkin while inhaling a felafel.,' she wrote on May 6.

'Turns out the iPhone can be fully submerged in breast milk, and yet I've never once seen that in an ad,' she joked a few days before.  'Come on, Apple, know your audience.'
