In a stoke of bad luck, homeless are being evicted by the County of Camden Friday and have nowhere to go

CAMDEN, New Jersey (INTELLIHUB) — Homeless residents who have been living in a makeshift tent city are now scrambling for new homes as the county has issued eviction notices Friday. However, city shelters are full and most have nowhere safe to go.

“There is no place for us to go”, said one of the residents to a CNN camera crew, continuing to wonder what to do. Others are concerned as well and are finding it hard to even relocate and pack their possessions.

One homeless couple who has been living in the tent city together for a while said they are lucky enough to have part-time jobs, which is a plus, but not all residents are so fortunate.

“You are taking people out of their safe zone here”, said one female resident.

Dan Keashen, with the County of Camden, said to CNN recently, ” We want to eliminate these havens which these encampments have become for addicts and users”.

County officials say, “If they are not going to go willingly, they are trespassing”.
