Spain star Javi Martinez's ex-girlfriend will be cheering on GERMANY at the World Cup

By John Drayton

She may be Spanish, but Maria Imizcoz is rooting for Germany to win the World Cup in Brazil this summer.

And what's more, the model is the ex-girlfriend of Javi Martinez, who is in Vincente Del Bosque's provisional squad.

Martinez will be hoping to earn himself a spot on the plane to South America, but may not want to see the pictures below.

Imizcoz is promoting Germany's World Cup campaign in traditional Bavarian costume.

The couple are believed to have broken up in February this year, after Imizcoz moved to Germany with Martinez following his move to Bayern Munich.

Fernando Torres, Santi Cazorla and Juan Mata are selected others in Spain's provisional squad as they look to retain the World Cup.

As the DM is trying to attract more Australian readers by including articles relevant to Down Under, here's a valuable tip for you. Stop using the ridiculous phrase 'rooting for'. For one thing it's a silly Americanism, for another it means something much more fundamental in Oz.
