Sydney's 5 Seconds of Summer make a big impact at the Billboard Awards...despite Kendall Jenner almost calling them One Direction!

They've been making their name touring with pop titans One Direction.

But it was Sunday night's performance at the Billboard Awards that was set to cement their boy band-of-the-moment status.

So it's understandable that their loyal fans are furious with Keeping Up With Kardashians star Kendall Jenner for completely messing up introducing the Sydney four-piece to the world stage.

Since it's one of biggest nights on the music industry calendar, singer Luke Hemmings, 17, Bassist Calum Hood, 18, Guitarist Michael Clifford, 18 and Drummer Ashton Irwin, 19, would have been preparing for this moment for months.

Looking glamorous in her white backless top and high-waisted black trousers Kendall appeared overwhelmed by the excitement and she completely lost her concentration.

Announcing the band for their big American award show debut, the teen said: 'The band about to rock the Billboard Awards comes from Down Under, but the direction they are heading is straight up. Recently, they made their debut on the Billboard 200 at number two.'

But then the wheels came off: 'This summer - and now we welcome One...Guys, I’m the worst reader. Um…They’re only getting bigger! Take a look.'

Ever the professionals, the talented teenagers then went on to rock the Las Vegas stage with their breakthrough international hit She Looks So Perfect.

Despite Kendall's rocky introduction, they will have no doubt impressed the auditorium full of music’s biggest names, industry hitmakers, plus millions of TV viewers across the US and beyond.

Later on after a backlash on social media, the 18-year-old said: 'Anndddd as if I wasn't nervous already!!!! #NeverLeavinMyContactsAtHomeAgain! #LOL #LessonLearned.'

Regardless of the blunder, 5SOS bounced around the Las Vegas MGM Grand Garden Arena stage as they performed their hit single to the masses and didn't seem bothered by Kendall fluffing her lines.

After their big performance 5S0S Tweeted: 'THAT WAS EPIC. Thank you Billboard for letting us perform ‘She Looks So Perfect'.'
