'Whoa, steady up on the lagers a bit!' Star of The Mentalist Simon Baker reveals he believes his body needs work when it comes to being a pin up
He's the Australian heart throb who has made US Tv his own with his role as Patrick Jane in The Mentalist.
But while Simon Baker has millions of adoring fans tuning in to feast their eyes on his good looks, he says he doesn't think he makes the grade when it comes to being a pin up.
The 44-year-old revealed he wasn't impressed with his physique when he saw photographs of himself hitting Bondi beach last year.
Happy in himself: The Mentalist star Simon Baker, pictured here with his son Harry in Bondi last year, says that despite being surprised by shirtless look, he's happy to carry some extra pounds if he's having a good time
And the shots made him take a look at his lifestyle habits.
He said: 'I saw those images and thought, 'Whoa, steady up on the lagers a bit,' but whenever I come back [to Australia], I want to embrace everything about being here.'
The blonde actor also told Sunday Telegraph Style he's happy to gain a few extra pounds if it means he's enjoying himself.
He added: ' I'm an old bloke now, I'm OK about carrying a few extra pounds if I'm having fun.
Picture perfect family: Simon posed with his wife Rebecca Rigg and their three children when he was honoured on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in LA last year
'You have to detach yourself from that side of things and live moment to moment.'
Simon has been married to wife Rebbeca Rigg, 46, since 1998 and the couple have daughter Stella, 20 and two sons, Claude, 15, and Harry, 12.
The Devil Wears Prada star, who was landed big contracts with the like of Givenchy and Longines because of his chiseled good looks, says he always enjoys coming home to Australia and being around friendly Aussies.
Suave: Simon looks sophisticated as he plays Patrick Jane in the hugely popular US drama The Mentalist
He added: 'It hits me every time, you know, the 'G'day mate, how are you?' It's just so easy and warm and comforting.'
Despite moving to LA, Simon is still clearly proud of his Australian roots.
'I grew up in Ballina [a town on the NSW north coast near Byron Bay]. The essence of me is still that guy,' he said earlier this year.
