She forged her singing career on The X Factor in the UK.

But Cher Lloyd has gone on to taste plenty of success Stateside and she looked completely at home as she stepped onto the red carpet at the Billboard Awards on Sunday night in a fetching purple outfit.

The 20-year-old star stunned in a purple cap sleeve embellished cocktail dress with illusion neckline by Mikael D at the event at the MGM Grand Garden Arena, Las Vegas.

Cher appeared to have a great time while inside the venue as she took to her Instagram account later in the evening to share a picture of herself and Fall Out Boy bassist Pete Wentz.

In a caption attached to the image, she wrote: 'Met the lovely @petewentz ! #BBMAs (sic)'

Cher and Austin Mahone presented the award for Top Streaming Artist to Miley Cyrus, who accepted the gong from on her Bangerz tour.

The 21-year-old wore a top with a large tongue emblazoned across it as she said: 'Thank you to everyone for making this s*** possible... oops sorry, I'm on ABC!'

Cher wasn't the only Brit who wowed on the Billboards red carpet on Sunday though as singer Natasha Bedingfield also looked like a sheer delight on the red carpet.

The 32 year old looked great in a cream sheer top with a floral design that showed off her black bra underneath.

The star added a pair of white trousers to her look as well as some studded heels.

Like Cher, Natasha posed with several stars throughout the night, including Jordin Sparks on the red carpet.

Other Brits at the event included Calvin Harris, who went for a smart/casual approach to the evening.

Opting to leave his suit at home, the Scottish DJ, 30, wore an all-black ensemble featuring a black leather jacket.

Justin Timberlake was the big winner on the night, taking home seven trophies, including Top Artist and Top Male Artist after returning from a seven-year hiatus from the music industry last year with his album The 20/20 Experience.

The 33-year-old star also took home the Top Billboard 200, Top Radio Songs Artist, Top R&B Artist, Top Billboard 200 Album and Top R&B Album awards, although he accepted them via a live video stream as he's currently on tour.

Meanwhile, Demons rockers Imagine Dragons accepted five awards including Top Rock Artist and Top Rock Album, while Pharrell Williams, Robin Thicke and T.I were each presented with four gongs for their summer 2013 hit Blurred Lines.

Ludacris hosted the night, which saw performances from Icon Award winner Jennifer Lopez - who took to the stage with Pitbull to premiere the official anthem of this year's FIFA World Cup We Are One (Ole Ola) - as well as Miley Cyrus, Katy Perry, Iggy Azalea and even Michael Jackson, via a hologram.
