By Daily Mail Reporter

Pamela Anderson shocked guests at a star-studded Cannes Film Festival event by revealing she was molested as a child, raped at the age of 12 and gang-raped just years later.

The Baywatch star spoke about her ordeal on Friday night at the launch of The Pamela Anderson Foundation, in front of 200 guests.

‘I did not have an easy childhood. Despite loving parents, I was molested from age six by a female babysitter', the 46-year-old said.

'He was 25 years old and I was 12.’

The Playboy cover girl then added that a school boyfriend: ‘decided it would be funny to gang-rape me with six friends. I wanted off this earth.’

A guest said: ‘No one was expecting a speech like that. Pamela was so brave.’

The actress had dressed to impress in a dangerously low-cut Vivienne Westwood frock as she celebrated the occasion with a cocktail party aboard a luxury yacht in the French Riviera in support of Cool Earth - a charity close to co-host Dame Vivienne Westwood's heart.

She chose a white maxi-dress by the designer, featuring a ruffled bust and tiny spaghetti straps that barely managed to contain her ample bosom.

The column shape of the wrap dress perfectly flattered her enviable figure, with a tie detail accentuating her petite waist, while she added height to her frame with strappy pale pink satin peep-toe stilettos featuring pretty floral toe detail.

Pam sported a perennial golden California glow, perfectly set-off by the white ensemble, while her face was nicely made up to match, with dewy skin, bronze lips and cheeks and dark eyes.

Her cropped blonde locks were styled in a voluminous 'do pulled back from her face.

The former actress was escorted into the event by her oldest son, Brandon, who looked smart in his dressy attire.

The 17-year-old opted for black pants, a white and blue printed T-shirt, a midnight blue blazer that was rolled at he sleeves and grey suede shoes.

The handsome offspring of Pamela and ex-husband Tommy Lee ensured his mother made it safely onto the boat without tripped in her sky-high platform heels, before handing over the reins to stepdad Rick Salomon.

Of course, the couple, who were briefly married in 2007, remarried in secret reportedly sometime over the Christmas holidays, confirming their happy news in January.

The 46-year-old also looked smart in black pants, an oversize black and white checked shirt and white loafers, which matched his wide-brimmed hat.

The couple still appeared to be in the honeymoon phase of their relationship judging by their interactions with one another.

Pamela was positively beaming as she cosied up to her man for photos, having brightened up her look with a slick of rose-coloured lippie.

A long-time supporter of various charities - including PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) and MAC Cosmetics' AIDS Fund - the humanitarian's latest venture has been a long time
in the making.

Taking to her Facebook page on Wednesday, she revealed her excitement at finally making her charity a reality.

'I love Cannes! So lucky to be here with my family. And .. Dream come true - to launch my namesake foundation (on the riviera)... Glamorous, meaningful.. The good life. To raise money to protect and support the vulnerable areas of the world and support those who are protecting and surviving, thriving - within them,' she wrote.

According to its mission statement on the Save The Date cards, The Pamela Anderson Foundation 'supports organisations and individuals on the front lines protecting the environment, animal rights and human rights'.

The official website goes on to explain that with '20 years of connecting resources' the charity is
a 'natural extension' of the important work she's already done.

She adds: '[I] will not be a part of the "bewildered herd" philosophy - must be outspoken and brave. Question everything.'

no body should have to endure the abuse this woman claims to have gone through. she's right to speak out about it and show that she is a strong person who wont let it stop her from achieving her dream. people who abuse others are scum.

Incredible! This article flows seamlessly from a bald report that she was molested, raped and gang raped, into a cringeworthy, long and detailed description of what she was wearing and how she wore her hair. Finally, right at the end we get to read what her new charity is all about. What's happened to high quality journalism? This might be a gossip rag where priority is given to the superficial, but once upon a time, even here, we at least could identify the topic of an article.

Although I've never been a fan, I admire her opening up about her experiences. Keeping quiet is just what predators want. It is very common for children who are molested to become over-sexualized, and behave seductively. It explains a lot about her. I hope she has healed, although one really never does.

It was brave of her to do that, she was showing that a woman who has been raped can recover and rebuild her life. She brought it out in the open, which will help other victims fight back and press charges against her attackers. It was good, but I agree with those that say her words would have carried more clout if she had worn a less exposing dress.

She did something amazing and brave, and by finally telling people what happened she could get several people through life that are going through the same thing to see how she came out on top. she is trying to create awareness, not gain attention to herself, its at a charity event for crying out loud.

How weird to expose this information at a Backgammon event...that she was first raped by a guy who was teaching her the very same game. Weird timing, but I understand her feeling: Stop the world, I want to get off too.

That's a very shocking revelation and it seems quite a few people on here can't handle it. However she has every right to speak about her past. It's not a mortal sin. Terrible things happen to people and it's a lesson for us all to treat others better instead of maliciously physically abusing and raping them don't you think.

I find her very brave for what she did and other people should not judge people all react differently to rape and has nothing to do with how you dress it's a crime and the victim should never be blamed.
