She is busy working on the final season of Mad Men, in which she plays harassed mother Betty.

However January Jones looked quite the opposite to her 1960s alter-ego when she enjoyed a day off with her son, Xander, on Monday.

The stunning actress carried the two-year-old in her arms as she strolled through Pasadena, California, while displaying her enviably long pins.

The 36-year-old kept her dark sunglasses firmly on after opting for a pair of black skinny jeans and matching pointy flats.

With her blonde hair tied up in a simple ponytail, January appeared to be wearing very little make-up apart from a slick of pink lipstick.

She teamed her trousers with a relaxed blue blouse, complete with button detailing, and an incredibly chic two-tone handbag.

Despite the low-key outing, January added a chunky gold necklace after dressing the youngster in a cute blue top and grey joggers.

The previous day it appeared as though the TV star had been working on her hugely popular AMC drama, now in its seventh season.

She shared a snap on her Instagram page as she posed with a sign which read 'Single Mom Productions', commenting: '#nuffsaid'.

January could have been hinting at her own family life, after keeping the identity of her son's father a secret.

The beauty, who used to date Ashton Kutcher, has also not been linked to a man romantically since September 2011.

Sporting a pink shirt and jeans, January posted a second photo as she posed with her Mad Men costar Rich Sommer, writing: '#twinsies'.
