SPOILER ALERT! Justice is served! Lord Baelish takes matters into his own hands in shock Game Of Thrones ending

By Mike Larkin

They say hell hath no fury like a woman scorned.

But it seems a man can be pretty dangerous too after Lord Baelish dealt with his jealous wife in a particularly brutal manner on Sunday's Game Of Thrones.

The cunning character had played his true love Catelyn Stark's sister Lysa Arryn like a fiddle, having her kill her Hand Of The King husband Jon before penning a letter to her sibling pinning the blame on the Lannisters, setting the whole story in motion.

And he managed to fool her one last time when she almost threw her niece Sansa, the latest object of his affections, down her castle's Moon Door to the mountains below.

When he ordered her to stop, she reluctantly barked: 'You want her this empty headed child? She's just like her mother she'll never love you.'

However Littlefinger won her over, telling her: 'I'll send her away. I swear on my life. I swear on all the gods. Let her go Lysa.'

Despite his previous form for lying and cheating, she believed him, allowing the eldest Stark daughter to scamper away from certain doom.

He then helped his new wife, who he only married in the last episode, to her feet before holding her in an uncomfortable embrace.

The former Master Of Coin cruelly told her: 'Oh my sweet wife. My sweet silly wife. I have only loved one woman, only one my entire life. Your sister.'

He then pushed her down The Eyrie's Moon Door, sending her to her doom.

It is a moment sure to have big consequences, especially as Lord Baelish has his eye on his former unrequited love's daughter.

The whole event was set in motion after she had slapped Lysa's brat son Lord Robin Arryn for smashing up a snow model she had made of her home of Winterfell.

Littlefinger saw the whole thing, and expertly used her emotional state to win her over.

Foreshadowing what was to come, he said: 'A lot can happen between now and never. If you want a better home, first you must demolish the old one.'

He explained to her he had only ever loved her mother, had killed King Joffrey to avenge her, and then told her she was even more beautiful than Catelyn.

He then told her to 'call me Petyre, before kissing her in the lips, though it was soon clear Lysa had spotted them.

After calling Sansa for a meeting in the throne room, she discussed the keep's Moon Door, saying the drop was 'Hundreds of feet. Its fascinating what happens when bodies hit the rocks some such a height.'

There were plenty of other major events in the episode Mockingbird, the title an obvious reference to Baelish, who had literally raided the nest of the honourable Jon Arryn, a mentor to both Eddard Stark and the future king Robert Baratheon.

The most crucial concerned that of Tyrion Lannister's trial by combat.

Accused of murdering King Joffrey, he was so angry his lover Shae had been turned against him he decided to risk all in the winner takes all form of justice at the end of the previous episode.

His brother Jaime, who had been the greatest swordsman in the land, confessed he could not fight for him as he could 'no longer best a stable boy' without his right hand.

No need to worry: Thankfully Tyrion was sure his old chum Ser Bronn of the Blackwater could save his rear

Making matters worse, the dwarf's best friend Ser Bronn of the Blackwater revealed he had been bought off, though he would have liked to stand by his friend if the price was right.

However he said he was too scared of his potential opponent, with whom a single slip would be deadly, to risk his life on an uncertain reward.

The duo left on good terms, with Tyrion saying, 'you're an evil bastard with no conscience and no heart - that's why I liked you in the first place.'

However it was his vengeful sister Cersei's decision to use the Lannister family's most powerful henchman Ser Gregor Clegane to mete out justice that could prove her undoing..

The fearful warrior known as The Mountain was shown butchering some convicts, before agreeing to serve as the Crown's champion.

However this prompted the vengeful Prince Oberyn Martell to pay a visit to the embattled nobleman.

He explained they had met before, when Tyrion was still a baby, and explained it had been a massive let down after being told he was a 'monster' by Cersei, who like her father Tywin blamed him for her mother's death.

Oberyn said: 'She unveiled the freak. Your head was a bit large, your arms and legs were a bit small but no claw. No red eye, no tail between your legs, just a tiny pink c***.

He explained how his sister abused him, before being stopped by Jaime, and said she hoped he would die soon, a revelation that caused Tyrion to burst into tears.

However he said what he truly wanted above all was justice for his sister Elia Targaryen, the wife of a previous heir to the throne who had been killed and raped during the sacking of King's Landing under the orders of his father.

He said: 'I've come to the perfect place. I want to bring those who have wronged me to justice and all those who have wronged me are right here.

'I will begin with Ser Gregor Clegane, who killed my sister's children, then raped her when their blood was still on his hands before killing her too.

'I will be your champion.'

While the outcome of the forthcoming duel is very much uncertain, at least everyone's favourite dwarf stands a fighting chance, as Oberyn, who is known as The Red Viper Of Dorne, is one of the most lethal warriors in Westeros.

Other developments in the dramatic episode included The Mountain's brother Sandor Clegane finally admitting to his captive-cum-partner in crime Arya Stark how his brother had brutally burned his face as a boy.

He also allowed her to tend a wound he sustained during their latest ruckus on the road to The Eyrie, where he hopes to deliver her to safety to her now departed aunt, while receiving a sizable reward in the process.

Jon Snow also returned to Castle Black, but master-of-arms Alliser Thorne again failed to listen to his tactical advice about sealing the tunnel out of the keep to further fortify their position, almost driving the steward to force a confrontation.

Meanwhile Daenerys Targaryen spent the night amorous sell-sword Daario, before telling him to take the Second Sons to Yunkai to kill the slave masters that have resurfaced.

However Ser Jorah Mormont wisely tells her how her was shown mercy by Eddard Stark for his dealings in slavery, persuading her to try diplomacy before slaughter.

Finally Brienne of Tarth's quest to track down Sansa took a fortuitous turn when she stopped at an inn and was serviced Hot Pie, one of Arya's friends from their time as one of Yoren's recruits for the Night's Watch, among other adventures.

He tips them off about how she had been taken captive by Sandor, and after her increasingly useful squire Podrick suggests that they head to the Eyrie to find her it sets them on an unwitting collision course with their true target.

A tasty discovery: Brienne of Tarth's naive honesty paid off when Hot Pie gave her a useful morsel of information

looking at how everyone screams that the article ruined the episode for them or spoilers spoilers spoilers.. he's a novel idea, don' come on the website, specifically the tv section until you have seen the episode? I know it might sound like a radical idea, but it is something common sense should dictate. But if that is too hard to do, i have a question for you.. how are you even still alive with zero common sense?

Again, WHY the big spoilers? What is the big reason behind that? Why is so essential? Or, as I said before in a perfectly reasonable way, why not go soft on the spoilers and leave it open for those who truly want to read them? THAT would be 'common sense'... and, BTW, 'how am I still alive'? Possibly thanks to not meeting utterly unreasonable and arrogant people like your good self, JGS.

Here's the correct way to do it, DM... print SPOILER ALERT (ok, you got that bit right), a very vague description in the thumbnail and NO (can't stress this one enough) picture of the big twist at the end of the episode... as others have said, people can process this stuff in about one second before they realise what they're reading and have it spoiled, so it's not use saying 'well don't read it then...' and yet you do it week after week, despite the upset comments... the disdain shown for the DM's loyal readers is quite shocking.

@Honestly, it doesn't air in the UK until the day after it's been aired n the US. This is a British news publication, surely they can wait for it to air here!

So, 'Honestly', I am not allowed to check out current news stuff because this site puts out ridiculously spoiler-y stuff for no good reason whatsoever? I think the point I made were quite reasonable, it could be done in a way that would not wind people up. And, yes, I could go to other news sites... but why is the DM constantly doing this to their readers if they want them to keep reading? I'm genuinely confused by this...

If you were spoiled by this, it's your own fault. Don't roam on the Internet (especially on an entertainment news site!!!!) if you haven't seen the latest episode of what is arguably the most popular show currently on air.
