2015 National Crime Victims’ Service Awards Add to Favorite

The Office for Victims of Crime is accepting nominations for the 2015 National Crime Victims’ Service Awards. Nominate an individual, organization, team, or program that demonstrates outstanding achievements in supporting victims and victim services by Wednesday, August 6, 2014. There are numerous award categories, including: Allied Professional Award, Award for Professional Innovation in Victim Services, Special Courage Award, and the new Vision 21 Crime Victims Research Award.

Updated State and Territory Fact Sheets Add to Favorite

BJA is excited to release the recently updated BJA State and Territory Fact Sheets. The enhanced web site features updated state and territory statistics related to BJA investments, Byrne JAG Program highlights, crime trends, and other criminal justice information. In addition to the web site, each state has an easily accessible PDF version of the fact sheet and detailed funding information that can be used for distribution. BJA hopes these fact sheets will continue to be useful to criminal justice agencies, as they can easily obtain and reference criminal justice data across the nation for a variety of purposes.

NCCJD's Pathways to Justice Training Program Add to Favorite

Five chapters of The Arc were selected to pilot implementation of The Arc’s National Center on Criminal Justice and Disability’s “Pathways to Justice” Training Program. Through this program, funded by BJA, chapters will help build the capacity of the criminal justice system to effectively identify, serve, and protect people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, many of whom have “mild” disabilities that often go unnoticed among criminal justice professionals without appropriate training.

Social Media & School Violence Training Add to Favorite

The National White Collar Crime Center (NW3C), with support from BJA, is offering online training for law enforcement on the intersection of social media and school violence. The training is divided into six sections: a case study, historical perspective, evolution of online social networks, interactions with ISPs, emerging trends, and interacting in social communities.
