Phantom Of The Opera star Carla Laemmle, 104, dies at her Los Angeles home
Phantom Of The Opera star Carla Laemmle has passed away at the age of 104.
The dancer and actress was found dead at her Los Angeles home Thursday night, her caretaker Josephine Delavega confirmed to The Hollywood Reporter.
The star was one of the last entertainers left from the silent film era and was best known for playing the prima ballerina in 1925's The Phantom Of The Opera.

She also appeared as a secretary in 1931's Dracula.
Both pictures came from Universal Studios, co-founded by her uncle Carl Laemmle.
Carla can also be seen in films such as Uncle Tom's Cabin, The Broadway Melody , Mystery of Edwin Drood, His Last Fling, and The Adventures of Frank Merriwell.

The star opted to take a break from the silver screen after starrring as a Ballet Dancer in 1939's On Your Toes and worked at dance clubs in the interim.
But in 2010, she was on-camera again, starring as Zelda in Pooltime.
Carla's life inspired a documentary short titled Among the Rugged Peaks: The Carla Laemmle Story which was made in 2011 and narrated by Sally Kirkland.

Carla was born in Chicago in 1909 but relocated to Los angeles in 1921.
Throughout her years, she never married but is known for her longtime love with writer-actor Ray Cannon.
Her final movie, Mansion of Blood, a horror film starring Gary Busey is currently in post-production.
