The Little Merman! Androgynous male model Andrej Pejić to make his film debut in Sofia Coppola's version of Disney classic
He has conquered catwalks around the world with his gender-bending beauty and now androgynous model Andrej Pejić is set to conquer the big screen.
The 22-year-old Australian talent has joined the cast of Oscar-winning filmmaker Sofia Coppola's adaption of the classic Hans Christian Andersen tale The Little Mermaid.
So far he's the only person attached to the project, with his role listed simply as 'Sister #4' which will likely see him play one of Ariel's mermaid siblings.

It won't be Pejić's first big acting job, however, as he made the leap from catwalk to screen in the video clip for David Bowie's The Stars (Are Out Tonight) last year alongside Tilda Swinton.
He also filmed a bit part in short film Reason and historical drama television series Faith, but The Little Mermaid with be his major motion picture debut.
The highly anticipated film is yet to be given a release date, with Coppola - daughter of legendary filmmaker Francis Ford Coppola - recently coming off last year's The Bling Ring with Emma Watson.
Royal role: The king of the catwalk made his acting debut in Turkish television series Faith playing Prince Radu in 2013
Fans of Disney's The Little Mermaid will be disappointed though, with the Marie Antoinette and Lost In Translation director setting out for a much darker tone for her version.
Screenwriter Caroline Thompson has joined the project, with her past credits including The Addams Family and Tim Burton films The Nightmare Before Christmas, Edward Scissorhands and The Corpse Bride.
It won't be the first time an Australian model has played a mermaid in a big screen blockbuster, with supermodel Gemma Ward also portraying a deadly version of the mythical sea creature in Pirates Of The Caribbean: On Stranger Tides.
Playing the lady: The model starred in The Stars (Are Out Tonight) which was released in 2013 - he is pictured here with David Bowie and Tilda Swinton
