And so Alessandra Ambrosio couldn't have been happier as the World Cup kicked off on her home turf on Thursday.

The 33-year-old supermodel Instagrammed an image with her daughter and son, clad in Brazil’s team colours, along with a photo of her in a bikini, playing with a football.

The Victoria’s Secret Angel, who was born in Erechim, Brazil, captioned the family snap: ‘Let's do this #brasil #torcida #família #futebol#copadomundo #2014fifaworldcup #soccer’

In it, she holds two-year-old Noah against her hip, with one hand placed protectively on five-year-old Anja’s shoulder – her two children with businessman Jamie Mazur.

Alessandra sports a colourful top emblazoned with psychedelic designs and ‘Brasil’ in gold letters, along with matching sunglasses and jeans.

She recently shared her passion for the sport with Vogue, alongside Raquel Zimmerman, Adriana Lima, and Isabeli Fontana.

‘A football is the first gift any Brazilian kid receives,’ the mother-of-two said. ‘As soon as they can speak, they are told, “Here, take the ball.”’

According to The New York Times, Brazil is once again among the favourites to win the tournament – competing against Croatia on Thursday.

Spain will go against the Netherlands on Friday, and England against Italy on Saturday.
