NEW Young Iraqi men have streamed into volunteer centres across Baghdad, answering a call by the country's senior Shiite cleric to join the fight against Sunni militants advancing in the north. Christopher Waide, 23 (right), was arrested late Thursday after confessing to killing missing person Lea Chali Porter, 19 (left), earlier this month. Porter was last seen driving to Waide's apartment after getting into a fight with her boyfriend, and was officially reported missing on June 5. Waide initially told police that Porter left his apartment in the middle of the night, but went back on that story when confronted by Porter's boyfriend an brother on Thursday. He was arrested and charged with first-degree murder and sexual assault. His first court appearance is scheduled for Monday.

Jared Padgett, 15 (left), killed fellow student Emilio Hoffman, 14 (top right), and injured a physical education teacher when he opened fire at the Oregon school on Tuesday morning. On Friday, investigators revealed details of Padgett's journal which included a plan to kill 'sinners' at his school smoked cigarettes and took the Lord's name in vain. Also on Friday, Padgett's parents Michael and Kristina issued a statement, apologizing for their son's actions.
