Speed demon! Keanu Reeves swaps biker leathers for scruffy denim as he zips through Beverly Hills on one of his many motorcycles

By Ryan Smith

He may be one of Hollywood's biggest stars, but Keanu Reeves doesn't need luxury limos or big cars to get himself around Tinsel Town.

The Speed star, long known for shunning the extravagances embraced by so many of his celebrity counterparts, was pictured manouvring through the traffic of ritzy Beverly Hills on one of his trusty motorcycles on Wednesday.

Dressed in a taupe full-length jacket, blue jeans, black leather biker gloves and brown trainers, the 49-year-old actor seemed to go unnoticed by fellow commuters as he waited at traffic lights, his eyes hidden behind a pair of black sunglasses.

And, of course, in putting safety first, Reeves topped off his look with a much-needed bikers helmet.

The Beirut-born heart-throb is a known biking enthusiast, who even launched his own motorcycle company in 2012.

The company's original prototype was constructed in Los Angeles in a collaboration between Reeves and designer and engineer Gard Hollinger.

On the Arch Motorcycle Company's website, Reeves is described as having 'logged tens of thousands of miles on all manner of motorcycles, all over the world'.

In fact, the site claims that Reeves uses motorcycles almost exclusively to get around, and that he has only ever owned just two cars over the years – a vintage Volvo and a contemporary Porsche.

His love affair with two-wheeled transport is such that it is said that he often buys himself a new bike whenever filming away on location - to keep him from missing his beloved collection at home.

But the star's relationship with motorcycles hasn't always been a smooth ride.

Reeves ended up having his spleen removed after taking a big spill on Los Angeles' Topanga Canyon Boulevard back in 1988.

Years later, the Matrix star confessed to Rolling Stone that he was convinced he was going to die in the accident.

'I call that a demon ride,' he told the maagzine. 'That's when things are going badly. But there's other times when you go fast, or too fast, out of exhilaration.'

By all reports from film crews he's a really nice guy, is always great to fans, quietly donates millions to charities, doesn't play the paparazzi game, lives a relatively quiet life. He could teach some of these young actors something about staying genuine in Hollywood.

I don't get it. He doesn't even look CLOSE to 50, yet he's basically 50! He seriously looks like he's in his mid to late 30s in most of his pics... like 35-37.
