Sources close to her have denied that new beau Matthew Paetz is a male escort, instead calling him a 'love coach'.

But whatever his true profession, the usually camera-friendly Lea Michele came over rather bashful on Friday, keeping her head firmly down as she left a spa in West Hollywood.

The 27-year-old Glee actress did have a smile on her face but fixed her gaze downward as she held hands with a female friend while leaving the establishment.

Her toned legs sported a bronze tint from her recent trip to Hawaii and she donned a pair of flip flops for comfort.

The Glee star's dark locks with caramel highlights were loosely plaited down one side.

She covered her eyes with a pair of tortoiseshell brown shades and accessorised with a black shoulder bag.

TMZ first reported that Lea has been dating Matthew on the down-low for the last few months after the pair met on the set of her raunchy music video for On My Way.

It was revealed earlier this week that she and Matthew - who reportedly charged up to $17,500 for a week of his company - have been spending a lot of time together.

While sources close to Lea claim he is a 'love coach', his profile picture was featured on the male escort site, Cowboys4Angels, and judging by his portfolio, he was clearly very popular.

TMZ reported that Matthew works for the website – which offers straight male escorts for women- under the name Christian.

It claims he is available for $350 for one hour, up to $6,000 for a weekend and a whopping $17,500 for the entire week.

Although his page is no longer available for viewing, he listed his skills as certified life coach, dating expert and massage therapist.

Since then, sources close to the actress have told TMZ that she was upset by the report, and has insisted he is not a male gigolo, but a coach to escorts.

TMZ claim that Matthew told Lea he only went on a few dates with female clients for 'research purposes' and worked primarily as a 'coach' to the men on the books.

A source told the website that his last assignment for the wesbite was to the Stagecoach music festival in April for the weekend but since meeting Lea he has taken a break from it.

Matthew is Lea’s first reported boyfriend since the death of Cory Monteith on July 13, 2013.

Back in January of this year Lea revealed she wasn’t ready to date yet during an interview with her friend Jonathan Groff for Teen Vogue.
