He may be a father of two and pushing 40 but there's no sign of Ryan Phillippe letting himself go.

And on Friday he showed off the ripped results of his hard work as he posed shirtless on a yacht in Miami with some pals and his rumoured fiance Paulina Slagter.

In one snap, shared by pal Brian Washington, he displays an impressive six-pack as he stands near the helm of the boat.

Clad in just a pair of white board shorts and aviator shades he smiles alongside his pal, who stands at the wheel with wine glass in hand.

Paulina, 23, stands at the back of the boat smiling excitedly as her hair blows in the breeze.

In another shot which was posted to his own account, the muscle-bound Cruel Intentions stud has his back towards the camera as he looks out across the bow of craft.

He can be seen smiling as he places an affectionate arm around his buddies shoulder, clutching an e-cigarette in his other hand.

The couple headed out later on for a trip out in South Beach.

Law student Paulina was seen in denim shorts and a sheer blue blouse tied at the waist as she followed her beau into a waiting taxi.

The gazelle-like brunette donned a floppy wide-brimmed sun and opted for flat metallic sandals.

Ryan flaunted his tattooed arms in a clingy black T-shirt and sported some sexy stubble.

The pair have been dating for three years and appear to be deeply in love.

On their romantic vacation in Miami they've been spotted canoodling on the beach and by the pool seemingly unable to keep their hands off each other.

Date night: The couple headed out into Miami. They have recently been seen enjoying leisurely time together by the pool and on the beach

And Paulina has been displaying a large diamond ring on her left hand just one month after rumours first surfaced that the couple are engaged.

Meanwhile Ryan is enjoying time off while he can, as he has got a full workload ahead of him, starring in a TV series that was picked up by ABC in May

In Secrets & Lies, he plays Steven, a family man who finds the body of a young boy while jogging and subsequently becomes the prime suspect.

Steven feels he has no choice but to find the real killer as his marriage, his kids, his reputation, and his sanity are all at stake.

The father-of-two has two films in post-production, including the thriller Reclaim, about an American couple who are mourning the death of their unborn child in a car accident.

Loved-up: Ryan and Paulina, 23, have been dating since 2011. They have not yet confirmed their engagement

talking about his being in good shape at 40, you say 'father of two' as if it's the same thing as 'mother of two'. uh uh. no. whole diff ball game. the dad sticks in his pin and keeps running at top speed. the mom's body is then assaulted 80 diff ways for the next 9 months and becomes a slug, and the effects can be permanent. to climb back from THAT is impressive. men have it easy.

Jesus christ, no agenda then? I thought women wanted to have men to act the same with kids, as if he's got two, he could get tired and flabby. If it was another woman you'd be complaining how women with that much money can afford a tummy tuck and personal trainer. There's just no winning with someone as cynical as you.
