Grrrufff rider! Gavin Rossdale pops family pup Chewy into his tandem's front basket as he take his boys for a bike ride

By Bobbie Whiteman

He was riding a bicycle built for two.

But Gavin Rossdale was happy to carry three on his tandem by sitting the family's adorable Pomeranian, Chewy, in the front basket while five-year-old son Zuma sat behind his dad for a bike ride in Los Angeles on Saturday.

Gavin's oldest son, eight-year-old Kingston, was happy to cycle along on his own, although the Bush frontman and lead guitarist kept a careful eye on the lad.

Wheely good fun: The 48-year-old rocker also took his eight-year-old son, Kingston, on the bike trip, keeping an eye on the lad as he cycled along on his own

The 48-year-old Londoner looked cool in a black T-shirt, black Nike shorts, white socks and black sneakers.

The rocker slicked his hair back off his face and hid his eyes behind sunglasses with animal print rims.

Chewy seemed happy to sit upfront, with the breeze blowing through his long ginger and white mane.

Although Gavin wasn't wearing a crash helmet, both the boys were.

Zuma also wore a white NFL T-shirt with a large number three in blue on his chest that matched his blue and orange shorts, plus white socks and black trainers.

Kingston was much more co-ordinated in a red tee that matched the colour of his crash hat and trainers, paired with white and grey shorts.

Missing from the fun trip was Gavin's wife of 12 years, Gwen Stefani, 44.

The No Doubt singer was probably at home with their baby, Apollo, who was born on February 28.

Gavin has been busy of late. The rock and roll star played his guitar solo at The Chrysalis Butterfly Ball, a star-studded charity event at the Mandeville Canyon estate in Los Angeles on June 8.

Chrysalis is a non-profit that strives to help homeless and low-income individuals develop self-sufficiency by providing resources and support to help them find employment.

Meanwhile Bush are recording their sixth studio album with producer Nick Raskulinecz.
