And it seems Meg Ryan still has her comic timing.

On Monday it looked as though the actress was making her son Jack, 22, laugh as the pair strolled away from a lunch in New York together.

Jack is already following in the footsteps of his mother Meg, and father Dennis Quaid, and in 2012 appeared as Marvel in The Hunger Games.

Meg and Dennis divorced in 2001, and the actress later claimed he had been unfaithful during their marriage.

Meanwhile, Meg and son Jack pair appeared to be making faces at one another as they crossed a noisy street in New York.

The actress is usually seen in New York with her new beau John Mellencamp.

Meg and John have been dating since the end of 2010 after John split from his model wife Elaine Irwin; however the American-rock singer has no plans to move to the Big Apple in order to be with the actress anytime soon.

The Hurts So Good singer lives in a lakefront mansion outside Bloomington, Indiana, and told Rolling Stone that he refuses to move to New York permanently to be with Meg.

'I'm too sensitive to live there,' The Rain On The Scarecrow rocker said. 'I can't see poor people. I can't see the suffering. I can't see the trash on the streets.'

There's also the paparazzi who follow the couple. 'I don't give a f*** about me, but I don't like it for [Meg],' John said. 'I'm not leaving Indiana. I'm going to die here.'

I met her recently on the Upper West Side. She was amazingly nice & we spoke for a few minutes. Her son was also with her and was a gentleman. I hate to see such hurtful comments directed towards people that they have never uttered a word to.
